As the Press Begins Laying Off "Journalists," Suddenly "Journalists" Discover That There Is an Actual Cost to Economic Shutdown

It didn't matter, and was a cost that could be cavalierly dismissed -- until our precious "journalists" started losing jobs.

Gannett announced Monday it is cutting pay and furloughing journalists at its newspapers across the country as ad revenue plunges during the coronavirus pandemic.

The publisher of more than 100 newspapers, including USA Today, the Detroit Free Press, The Columbus Dispatch and The Arizona Republic, is reportedly furloughing workers who make more than $38,000. Those employees will be subject to furloughs of one week per month in April, May and June, according to a tweet from investigative reporter Gregory Holman of the Springfield News-Leader in Missouri, a Gannett-owned paper.

And oh no! Buzzfeed is cutting its "journalists'" pay, too!

The horrors! How shall we go on?

BuzzFeed is cutting pay for its employees as the company attempts to weather the coronavirus pandemic.

In an internal memo on Wednesday, the company announced a graduated salary reduction for the majority of employees for the months of April and May, adding that company brass would meet with the news union to ratify the cuts.

Check out this CNN whine of a headline:

Hundreds of journalists are being laid off, right when the public needs them the most

We "need" them?

Last week, a senior "reporter" decided he would "investigate" and call the mother of a Twitter rando whose opinion he doesn't like.

Do we "need" him? Is he "essential personnel" in a time of crisis?

Anyone with eyes can see that reporters spend 90% of their time on Twitter, retweeting tweets, and vindictively, vengefully "investigating" Twitter users they disagree with.

They also deliberately push fake news, and then claim it was an "editing mistake:"

As far as I'm concerned, you can all fucking starve to death. I hope you all lose your jobs and you all wind up in the gutter.

Oh great: Enemy of the People merch.

I guess the press is doing just as much as Mike Lindell.
