The Top Ten Most Influential Books!
I can't approve or disapprove of this list because I haven't read them all, but as a topic of discussion it's a good one!
But...I think he is missing at least a couple of tremendously influential books. Dude...The Iliad and The Odyssey.
The Top Ten Most Influential Books of All Time
This time we take a crack at the top 10 most influential books of all time. This list intrigues me even more than the last because I love literature. Do bear in mind that such a list is necessarily subjective and self-limiting. Like the College Football Playoff Committee, most of the lists I have consulted seem very confused about their criteria. To make this list, the book need not be great, good, or even intelligible — just extraordinarily influential. I include no books published after 1900 simply because it is too soon to judge their enduring influence.
There are six on the list that are probably on every other top-ten list, but it's the other four that pique my interest. I will quibble with his first book, "The Influence of Seas Power Upon History," because while it may have had a tremendous influence on the World Wars, it was not a novel idea. Great Britain, Spain and France went 'round and 'round for a few centuries with their navies, and they understood that naval power was national power.
Anyway, bat this around a bit in the comments.
