A Little of This. A Little of That.

Quite the K9 H/T Jane D'Oh.

This certainly looks to good to be true. Photos Of Sleeping Pups In A Puppy Daycare Center Are Taking Over The Internet (24 Pics)

Dog chases cat. Cat goes up a tree. Dog follows. Dog requires rescue.

Firefighters in California came to the rescue of a dog that chased a cat up a tree and ended up stranded at the top.

The Lathrop Manteca Fire District said the German shepherd was chasing a cat when the feline fled up a tree, and the dog followed.

Firefighters arrived to find the cat at the top of the tree, with the dog stranded not far below.

Dear Mis Hum,

I have to introduce the new addition to my household. This is Angus. He is shown with his older buddy, Maximus on the rug. Max has appeared in the Pet Thread before, as a younger hooligan. Max is 11 years old, born on October 20. Angus is 1 year old, born on October 21. They are great friends with Angus harassing Max while they are awake, then they sleep together. The photo on the couch shows Max in a supervisory position. The little guy was about three months old when he was pictured by himself, looking like a complete innocent. What a fraud. He has a devilish streak a mile wide. He loves to play fetch, as all good Labradors do. He is the happiest Lab I have ever had, and that's saying a lot. I am a lurker that always looks to the Pet Thread to clean out my grain after a week of politics (both of these guys are intensely conservative, they work hard for their treats). Thank you for lifting my spirits each week. - Richard

Thank you for your kind words Richard. What a cute puppy Angus is. You can see the happiness and devil in his eyes. Looks like a nice crew there. Thank you for sharing with us.

Bird 3.jpg

Greetings,

Long time lurker, not much of a poster, but, always enjoyed scrolling through the pet thread. We moved out of the "city" a couple of months ago and were finally able to get to the country. Along with that came some wildlife, so, not really our pets but we like 'em none the less. We have three Red Breasted Hawks that patrol the property and they all show up promptly at 630 a.m. taking up a perch in three different trees. After about twenty minutes two of the three fly off in opposite directions, to patrol their piece I suppose, and one stays in the trees around the house. I make sure to get out to my lawn chair early so I can watch them come in, sip my coffee, they take off and I start my day. - v/r

Well congrats on moving out of the city out to the country. Quite the hawk patrol you have there. Hope they prevent any rodent visitors. Thanks for your submission.

sheltieunnamed.jpg

You may have forgotten the pics I sent last year of our sheltie Flash angling the fan to point at him, but we had to let him go this spring. By coincidence a breeder that's known to our family had puppies this July. So here's a few pics of Sky, a bi-blue sheltie. He has very firm opinions on everything. The second photo is when we first got him, on Labor Day. The one on the couch is recently, showing what a moose (for a sheltie) he has become. - Kat

Moose Sky is a cutie. Looks like he leads a charmed life, couch time for a puppy is precious. We appreciate you sharing today. Thanks.

I have been lurking here for years and absolutely love your website. This is Fauxdesian Ridgeback (not really a ridgeback but sort of looks like one) Mr. Wiggles. He is a therapy dog and enjoyed visiting the local nursing homes. Mr.Wiggles is getting on in years but he still likes to make an effort to look good for the ladies. Merry Christmas ya’ll! - Nancy

Thanks for being a lurker and coming out of the shadows Nancy. Mr. Wiggles is a great name. And it's wonderful that he visits nursing homes. Residents love to see pets.

Spencer.jpg

Hi there ---

Here's a photo of our English Springer Spaniel, whom we named Spencer the Wonder Dog, for many reasons, including the fact that our vet said he was such a handful that he would have been eventually put down by any other owner.

He had a rough life in his first few years, with little or no human interaction, and after his elderly owners passed on, he was crated up to 11 hours a day before being given up for adoption.

My wife and I drove six plus hours to adopt him from a shelter in Pennsylvania, and drove another six hours to bring him back to our home state of New Hampshire.

But eventually he grew to enjoy being part of a family, getting lots of love and attention. He was a unique English Springer Spaniel in that he didn't like to swim, and refused to play fetch. All he did enjoy was running, lots of running along fields and in the woods. One of our joys was introducing this landlocked dog to the Atlantic Ocean. He couldn't understand why the water tasted so awful, and he loved chasing seagulls.

He was a true Velcro dog. If I went upstairs to my office, he went with me. If I went downstairs to get a cup of coffee, he followed me to the kitchen. And he loved riding in the car, even if it was a ten-minute trip to the Post Office or a two-hour ride to our lake cottage.

This past August he was having a hard time walking. Tests revealed a carcinoma in his right rear leg. The oncology vet said he had three to six months left, and we were blessed to give him four good months until a few weeks ago.

He was deeply loved and is sorely missed. As others have said so many times, dog break our hearts but once.

Thanks for posting all the wonderful submissions from fellow Pet Morons.

With thanks, Brendan from New Hampshire

Hi Brendan, thanks for the Spencer story. It certainly sounds like you both were fortunate to cross paths. Beautiful dog, we can tell from your letter he was truly loved.

Hi Mis Hum,

The little gal sunbathing with her master (our son Adam) is Tica, his first rescue. She was a troubled little thing after growing up in a horribly abusive household but we loved her and forgave all her trespasses, AKA bites. All we wanted was to give her a home she could trust, and we did that until she passed suddenly in 2016. MinPin/Chihuahua cross, so she was certainly feisty. She was also innocent. She could be so loving when she felt safe, and we will always miss her.

The smiley-faced little black Yoda is Rosie. She was found in 2017 all skin and bones, just months old, roaming on a farm outside Stockton, CA and was rescued by a Vancouver charity that pulls doggehs from CA kill shelters and brings them to BC. She licked everyone’s faces the first day she joined us and just generally showed she appreciated us. In Rosie’s world there are only good people and good doggehs. Squirrels? Not so much.

God bless the doggehs and all you ‘rons and ‘ettes. - Kaner (Lurker/Occasional commenter)

The first photo, what a relaxing pose if I ever saw one. Quite the lap dog. Rosie looks pretty good. I bet she is somewhat spoiled at your home. Thanks for sharing.

I’m so proud to announce our adoption of our newest kitteh! Sylvester. He sauntered up one night last month as hubby and sister and BIL came home from a Montana hunting trip and were unloading their gear. We have an indoor female who was not impressed, so he stays in the shop and helps Daddy reload. He can go outside during the day, but we lock him up at night to prevent the coyotes from eating him, and the feral cats from shacking up with him in his sweet pad. He’s one of the best cats we’ve ever had. In one month, he’s caught at least a dozen mice that we have witnessed, and he’s snuggly as heck. He’s about six months old and we had him fixed last week, so hopefully he won’t spray on Daddy’s boat tarp. That would be bad. - kalneva

Hmmm, I wonder if Sylvester is a friend of the kitty in the photo above the fold? Does he catch mice or does he shoot them. Sounds like a wonderful addition to your home. Congrats!
