Court Dismisses State Case Against Paul Manafort
Liberal conspirators attempted to contrive a duplicate set of state charges against Paul Manafort. The idea was that this would stop Trump from pardoning Manafort, because presidents can only pardon for federal offenses.
To do so, they just copied the federal charges, grossly violating the constitutional principle of double jeopardy. You know, to save our democracy and preserve our norms.
A judge cited double jeopardy and dismissed the charges.
Judge Maxwell Wiley ruled that state law precludes prosecution because the criminal case was too similar to that which landed Manafort in federal prison, writing that the factual overlap between the state and federal cases "is extensive -- if not total."
Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance, Jr. said they would appeal the decision.
