A Little of This. A Little of That.

Cute video from our buddy, Hank Curmudgeon.

Funny situation submitted by our friend Hrothgar or maybe Conor.

Don't know if you guys ever link to/read Hell in a Handbasket. The gentleman that runs it is a rare soul, spends his time teaching gun safety and rescuing lost animals. The link below is the story of his latest canine adoptee, Katy:

Part One:

Part Two:

Off-topic, but he also has a sweet little tale of a home invader
conquered by a gaming nerd.

I do like happy endings!

Thanks for many years of free ice cream.

Cheers

Marie (Persnickety to you)

4 Guys Beg Their Neighbor To Let Them Play With Their Dog, Get A Wholesome Letter In Response

There’s nothing like a wholesome and heart-warming doggo story to raise your spirits and make you smile. Meet Stevie Ticks, a wonderful canine who lives in the United Kingdom and recently made some new friends—four engineers living nearby.

The foursome contacted the dog’s owner, asking whether they could spend some time with her because their landlord doesn’t allow them to have any pets.

In response, they got a letter from Stevie Ticks herself! The envelope even had the doggo’s paw print on the front! Folks, it hardly ever gets more blessed than this.

I like our regular UPS driver. I wonder if he is part of this group?

Turns Out, UPS Drivers Have a Facebook Group About Dogs They Meet On Their Routes
UPS Dogs is a wholesome Facebook group that documents the canine-loving “big brown truck” drivers who post pictures of the pups they become acquainted with along their delivery schedule.

Meet The PetMorons

1573236361185.jpg

I'm a frequent lurker at, and occasional poster to, the HQ under the name Stu Podaso, and I'd like to introduce Monroe.

Monroe adopted my wife and I in August of 2017. He was of indeterminate age (best guess was 7 in hooman years) and as far as we could tell he was a Basenji mixed with who-knows-what. He had one of the sweetest dispositions of anyone I'd ever met. His kindness and generosity were unmatched. For example, he graciously allowed my wife and I to sleep at the edges of his extremely comfortable king-sized bed.

Monroe was taken from us this past Tuesday (12/17/19). His indomitable spirit was such that his condition was unknown to us until it was too late for modern medicine to intervene. But even death could not put an end to his altruism, for he bequeathed us many joyous memories even though our time together was so short.

Several glasses will be lifted in his honor this holiday season.

The Wifey and I are fortunate to be currently adopted by three other persons of the canine persuasion (as well as a transgendered chelonian), but those are stories for another time.

Thank you. - Stu

First and foremost Stu, condolences on your loss. I suspect that king size bed of yours is even bigger now. He definitely was a handsome lad.

Hello MisHum-
My husband and I love the pet thread and can't live without AoSHQ. Here's a photo of one of the other things we can't live without - one of our four cats. This is Hailey, the youngest. She's very fluffy. Thanks for considering adding her to pet thread, and if this works out perhaps I'll send photos of the other three. - Nan

What a fluffy kitteh Nan. Hailey looks quite young. Hope you're around today and can tell us how old she is. Lovely markings. Thanks for being a Pet Thread supporter.

You've run a number of pics of Paisley but here she is looking judgmental. - Northern Lurker

You certainly are a proud owner N.L. and that is great. Paisley certainly has a plethora of expressions. Good to hear from you.

Hi Ace:
Recreant here. I've sent in previously pictures of our new feral/domesticated, indoor/outdoor cat. Here she is sleeping under the Christmas tree. Every cat we've had spent some time sleeping under the tree. Why do cats do this?

Well Mis. Hum. has no ideas why cats do this. Do you Morons have any idea? BTW nice looking Christmas spread you have there. Thanks for submitting your photo and question.

Hello Mis Hum,

Moniker - Lurker Since Before Kaboom (LSBK)

Ace of Spades a daily habit and the Pet Thread a Saturday habit. Good habits to have!

Its time to share some pics of dogs that I’ve had over the years.

I call this photo; Who’s Driving Who? My blue Australian Cattle Dog Mattie and my red Australian Cattle Dog Chief were with me on a trip out west. Mattie was always co-pilot and Chief would ride in the back. Whenever I exited the vehicle, and left the dogs, Mattie would stay in the passenger seat and Chief would take the drivers seat. When filling the tank in Limon, Colorado someone commented to me: “Who’s driving who?” And in Riverton, Wyoming another individual said the exact same thing: “Who’s driving who?” I finally remembered to grab the camera (before the advent of good cameras in phones) while getting gas and took this photo.

Mattie and Chief were my adventure dogs, as well as, great companions. I have a few more photos and tales to tell about these two dogs, as well as, other dogs that have been part of my life. If the horde will have me, I look forward to sharing.

Thanks LSBK

Hello LSBK, Mattie & Chief sure look like characters. Good things their legs didn't reach the pedals, you would have been stuck out west while they were out on a joy ride. Thanks for sharing today.

Hi y'all. Longtime lurker, sometimes poster, and PetMoron

This is Rory. She was *supposed* to be a golden lab, but turns out she is a cairn terrier / dachshund mix. Boy, were we surprised! But she is a lot of fun, loves being in the pool and her favorite enemy is a feather duster.

Thanks for the letting us post our friends! - JC

Supposed to be a golden lab? Sounds as if there is quite a story there. Not sure if it is suitable for a family oriented thread. J/K. Cute looking pup. Thanks for sharing.

Howdy!

Long time lurker, rarely a poster.

This is Alberta. I think that I am a bad influence on he, every time I get up from my chair when we are watching TV, she jumps up, sits down and starts watching it herself. She doesn't seem to be particular about what she is watching! - Tony

On the bright side Tony at least Alberta doesn't know how to operate the remote. She looks like a low maintenance friend. Thanks for sharing.

Hello! Thecommander here. You featured a pic (in Sept) of my favored kitty, Fleury, taken a couple of hours before she passed. I still miss her. Here is our new baby, Rosie, a beautiful Maine Coon! She a quite the character and we adore her already! It is terrible when they pass but they enrich our lives in so many ways. Here’s to many happy years with Rosie!

Rosie appears to have a certain sparkle in her eye. Could she be a little mischievous? You can never replace a pet you just add another love of your life.

This thread has already posted her uncle Pippin, but I just took my parents down to North Carolina to pick up Ellie and had to share her. She's a three month old Sheltie puppy who has no fear, considering she weighs all of three pounds. She howls when she wants to go outside and is immensely proud that she has learned to climb stairs, especially since it strikes fear into my parents' hearts. It has been hugely entertaining to watch a tiny little doll of a puppy terrorize them but they're having a great time with her.

Thanks for all the work you do!-Melissa

I call BS. How could such a little puppeh be a terrorist? J/K after adding a pup this past summer I understand. She's adorable and sounds like she is in a loving home.
