Update: Dang, Dior seems to be deleting the ad off the internet.
That joke aside: If the Redskins are pressured to drop their team name because it's supposedly derogatory, where does Dior get off calling Indians "Sauvage"?
If you're thinking, "That sounds like French for 'savage,'" well, that's exactly right.
So what gives?
Their rules.
And what's this nonsense?
An authentic journey deep into the Native American soul in a sacred, founding and secular territory.
The ad shows a Cosplay Indian doing a religious dance. I don't know if it's a rain dance or a war dance or a ghost dance, but it's clearly a religious rite. A beseechment to the gods.
Then they mention Native American "souls."
Then they say they want to take this into a territory that is both "sacred" and... "secular"?
Even in French, this is fucking gibberish. You can't blame this word salad on a bad translation.
Are they saying the Native American religion is secular because their stupid phony gods are obviously not real and everyone knows that?
Has #DiorSauvage announced a joint partnership/ad campaign with the #Redskins yet? Maybe they can get Johnny Depp to wear pink in October while they're at it.
