The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

I occasionaly jot down notes of thoughts or opinions or ideas that I have that perhaps may be of some interest to The Horde. One in particular has sat in my electronic note book for several weeks, and every time I look at it, it angers me anew.

The media are supposed to be dispassionate chroniclers of societal events and change. While they have never reached that ideal, the divide between straight news and opinion has, until recently, been relatively easy to see.

But I am thinking not of change, but of abject, complete, total failure. I cannot think of any other profession or trade or vocation that has so utterly failed to pursue its traditional goals, and instead has spun 180 degrees and is hurtling headlong and gleefully in the other direction.

Would we accept that kind of Incompetence from our physicians or car mechanics or carpenters or architects or ditch diggers? The answer is a resounding "no."
