Elizabeth Warren to Actual Indians: I'm Like Sorry or Whatever I Claimed to be an Indian Everytime I Was Applying for a Job or Running for Senate
Actually she didn't say that; she should have said that.
What she offered was a calculatedly vague non-apology:
"Like anyone who has been honest with themselves, I know I have made mistakes," the Massachusetts senator said at a forum on Native American issues in this pivotal early voting state. "I am sorry for the harm I have caused."
This outgassing of calculated haze and obscurity provides three benefits for her:
1, it permits her to claim she apologized, but
2, it offers no specific admissions of definite actions or intent which could be used against her in the upcoming months, and
3, it is the predicate for a Hillary Clinton Special -- claiming "these questions have all been raised and answered" when in fact exactly none of these questions were ever answered.
She has never asked her schools to open up her files and reveal whether she used her claimed Indian heritage for advancement, or whether such claimed heritage was ever a factor in her advancement.
Monday's remarks were an effort to move past the fallout from her past claims of tribal ancestry, which culminated in a widely criticized release of a DNA analysis last year...
Now that Warren is gaining in most polls, she's trying to prove to voters that the controversy won't doom her in a general election matchup against Trump. The detailed policy agenda to help Native Americans that she released last week helped her secure a warm reception from attendees at the tribal forum.
After drawing a standing ovation, Warren said "I have listened and I have learned a lot" from conversations with Native Americans in recent months, describing herself as "grateful" for the dialogue.
Oh -- like Hillary Clinton's "Listening Tour," after which she declared all questions you have about my corruption have been answered.
...
She did not receive any questions about her own background.
...
As of Monday, her campaign website’s page containing a video and other materials Warren had released on the DNA analysis was no longer active.
She isn't resigning the Senate seat she won partly on the basis of claiming to be partly Cherokee and partly Delaware:
