The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition
I heard a snippet of an interview of Charlie Kirk yesterday on The Dennis Prager radio show, and he spoke of a hidden reservoir of socialists in America, in particular on college campuses. Kirk is a bit of a firebrand and an opportunist, but he is also a fighter, for which I respect him. And I agree about the oozing pustule of socialism in this country. Of course the source of the current infection is academia, but there has always been a small vein of populism/socialism in America, often in otherwise idyllic areas (Iowa...what the hell is wrong with you?).
But this iteration, particularly the campus version, is a new breed, because by no stretch of the imagination is there any existential crisis of wealth disparity in America, which is the traditional argument for traditional socialism. In spite of the insane blatherings of Clamydia Harris and the insane old man from Vermont and Liawatha Warren, America is safe and rich. Hell, even our poor are fat and have flat-screen TVs and cars. As far as I can tell, the current argument is that market economics is a mean poo-poo head, and we should get rid of it so we can all have pet unicorns and free medical care and a guaranteed basic living minimum wage with abortions on tap and no guns and a benevolent central government that will wipe our asses because with Lesbian Poetry degrees none of us can do a damned thing for ourselves..
Kirk fears a Democrat nominee (he thinks it will be Warren) who can galvanize these people into a voting bloc, instead of what we would normally get, which is a split vote between the Greens and the dope-smoking pseudo-libertarians and the far-left wackadoodle candidates.
He thinks President Trump will win, but he is also not climbing on board the Trump-Wins-In-Landslide train. And I agree with him. A clever Democrat campaign will make it a closely contested election, and we are fooling ourselves if we expect the Democrat machine to concede anything.

Yeah...Twitter suspended me, and I have no idea why. Hopefully it was triggering and insulting to some weak-kneed SJW or progressive pundit. Aside from taking the occasional pot-shot at an idiot, I don't miss it at all.
