The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition
Property rights...pure and simple. They are one of the building blocks of a free society, and when government tries to diminish them our freedoms are diminished. Sure, they aren't as sexy as the 1st and 2nd Amendments, but the founders took them very seriously indeed. There is an argument that property rights are implicit in every single one of the first 10 amendments, and while it may be a stretch, it's not illogical.
'Keep the Hasidic Out': A Small-Town Housing Showdown
Sure...Hasidim are sort of strange sometimes, and the Satmar sect is stranger than most. But this is an attack on our religious rights, and the tool they are using is the erosion of our property rights that has been going on for a very long time. Even ignoring the violation of our freedoms, restriction of property rights limits economic growth because it regulates how investment is directed.
It is a bastardization of the rule of law to manipulate zoning regulations ex post facto. Why there isn't a hard and fast law that denies government the ability to modify zoning and other regulations after a permit request is filed is simply beyond me. It is only logical that prospective property owners be allowed to operate under known rules, rather than have to navigate an ever-changing miasma based on the emotions of the powers that be...in this case a former town supervisor who is also a convicted insurance fraud.
This is simple. If you don't like the way your town is changing, try to buy the land at a fair price, suck it up and figure it out, or move.

My Twitter Feed, which has been suspended as of yesterday or the day before! And I am not sure of my transgression(s), but one of the last things I tweeted was calling a divisive racist bitch a "divisive racist bitch." Or maybe it was telling Chris Cuomo that in fact, Fredo is a great nickname for him! Or maybe it was telling a CNN reporter that he was an idiot. Or maybe it was me asking Jessica Yaniv if he knew how fucking insane he was....
But Twitter is as evil as Google, just smaller. So participating may not be a good thing.
