Federal Judge, Not From Hawaii, Gives Go-Ahead to New Trump Administration Rule Which Will Sharply Curtail the Number of "Asylum-Seekers" Able to Press a Claim in America

The new rule says that any asylum seeker must seek asylum in the first safe country they enter, which, for Hondurans and other Central Americans, would be Mexico.

Otherwise, they do not even have a theoretical right to asylum.

The New York Times notes that a judge has approved of this new rule, though the NYT hastens to add that this is but a "temporary" ruling, until Circuit Court of Appeals, hopefully stocked with Obama appointees, can overrule it.

Judge Timothy J. Kelly of the Federal District Court in Washington declined to issue a temporary restraining order that would have blocked the government from effectively banning asylum for most Central American migrants, who have been arriving in record numbers this year.

The rule, now being applied on a limited basis in Texas, requires migrants to seek asylum in the first safe country they arrive in -- in most of the current cases, Mexico.

"I do not find on this limited record the plaintiffs have provided sufficient evidence of a certain great and immediate harm to meet this high burden," Judge Kelly said on Wednesday.

Under the policy, which the administration announced on July 15, only immigrants who had officially lost their bids for asylum in another country through which they traveled or who had been victims of "severe" human trafficking are permitted to apply for asylum in the United States.

I'd like the NeverTrumpers to name me one of their approved Corporate Cuck Candidates who would have done this.

Of course none of the Corporate Cuck Candidates would.

The NeverTrumpers are open borders in all but rhetorical admission, and sometimes they cross the line into outright overt advocacy for open borders.

This isn't about Trump's tweets or personality -- that's all a smokescreen.

The NeverTrumper Open Borders Coalition knows their position is not popular with conservatives, so they pretend their objection is based on more conservative-ish grounds, like "principle" and "character" and, of course, "Tweets," an important consideration first addressed by Madison in Federalist 28.

But if it's so critical that we eject Trump -- if the nation is losing its very soul due to Trump -- if America itself is dying due to Trump -- if we must do anything within our power to drive Trump from office, even jeopardizing the principle of peaceful transfer of power -- why is it that the NeverTrump Open Borders Coalition never attempts, not even once, to lure back conservatives to their side by making positive concessions about border enforcement?

If it's absolutely vital that we cast out this Hitler-Level Monster, that we can put no policy considerations such as judges, regulations, taxes, etc. above the imperative of driving Trump from office, why does the NeverTrump Open Borders Coalition sacrifice their own driving imperative -- Open Borders for Everyone, For Ever -- in order to accumulate the political support they'd need to challenge Trump?

The question answers itself: Because their driving principle is Open Borders. They cannot sacrifice the actual raison d'etre of their movement. Their entire movement is based on continuing to trick conservatives into supporting a de facto policy of Open Borders Forever; if they compromise on that, they might just as well support Trump.

An Abolitionist party can make various overtures to voters and various compromise offerings, but one thing the Abolitionist party can never compromise on is abolishing slavery.

And so too the Open Borders "Republicans." They seek to abolish the border, and it's a holy crusade for them.

They do not believe in God, as a general observation, but they do believe in a Holy Mission, and that holy mission is opening America to the entire world.

But they can't admit that to other Republicans, nor admit what they really believe: that they long ago adopted the left's ever-expanding definition of "racism" to now encompass "wanting to stanch the flow of illegal immigrants until actual assimilation begins again and until lower and middle class wages start rising again."

So they dress up their only real objection to Trump -- over their Open Borders zealotry, which most of them will not confess (given that their entire business model is, and always has been, based on tricking the Conservative Rubes into supporting Archlibertarian Corporatist goals) -- as disagreements about "language" and "comportment" and "Tweets."

Don't believe them. They're lying just the same as they've been lying, almost without pause, for 30 years.

This is about Open Borders. It's all it's ever actually been about.

Otherwise -- if it were not about Open Borders, not about any particular policy, but just about the odious character of a man -- they would adopt some of Trump's policy impulses in order to pick his pocket of issues and steal his supporters.

But they don't, because they can't. This is the Open Borders Moment, and they are determined to win it at any cost.

Including, obviously, supporting Open Borders Democrats for the third election cycle in a row.

Whether it's Open Borders Republicans or Open Borders Democrats, the Open Borders NeverTrump coalition will be supporting Open Borders candidates for the third election cycle running.

This is not some accident. This is not chance.

This is their entire purpose. This is their entire game.

Correction: Whoops, I saw that the court was in "Washington" and assumed, wrongly, that it meant Washington State, in the Ninth Circuit.

It's Washington DC, in the DC Circuit. My error! I hang my head in shame.

Update:

247 otoh the cucks finally found a hill to die on

What a surprise, huh, that it turned out that all the time they were selling out your priorities, the priorities you gave them your votes or money to advance, they were secretly subverting those priorities to pursue their own priorities or the priorities they had been paid by oligarchs to advance, and kept secret from you?

I mean, I'm just shocked to find out that this crew has been lying to us for 30 years.

Update: Trump comments on the Mueller disaster.
