DOJ Will Interview Senior CIA Officers to Review Their Actions in Spygate

The interview plans are the latest sign the Justice Department will take a critical look at the C.I.A.'s work on Russia’s election interference. Investigators want to talk with at least one senior counterintelligence official and a senior C.I.A. analyst, the people said. Both officials were involved in the agency's work on understanding the Russian campaign to sabotage the election in 2016.

While the Justice Department review is not a criminal inquiry, it has provoked anxiety in the ranks of the C.I.A., according to former officials.

Let me quote dozens of New York Times statements about the Mueller inquiry:

What reason hath an innocent man have to fear an investigation?

Senior agency officials have questioned why the C.I.A's analytical work should be subjected to a federal prosecutor's scrutiny.

The C.I.A. focuses on foreign intelligence and is not supposed to investigate Americans suspected of wrongdoing. It is supposed to pass on to the F.B.I. any information it acquires in the course of its espionage work about the actions of Americans.

Meanwhile, the media is buzzing that Trump said that of course he'd listen to anyone, including a foreigner, who had dirt on a rival candidate.

The media is filled with heart-ache at the gobsmacking vileness, and yet keeps deliberately omitting to mention that, Oh yeah, Hillary Clinton did exactly that, and has never answered a single pointed question about it.

Mollie Hemingway made that same point succinctly on the Bret Baier show last night.

Strangely, no follow-up, no acknowledgement, no "Oh yeah, I guess she did."

They just continue ignoring it. They can't say it's not true, so they just pretend it's not a fact that Hillary's people not only admitted to, but bragged about.

Meanwhile, other people replied to Jake Tapper's outraged demand that someone tell him of any other politician that would take information from, say, Russians.

He keeps pretending he's unaware that Hillary Clinton did, of course.

But some people provided other examples:

Yes, Mark Warner took information from a Russian oligarch's toady and US-based agent of influence.

Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee who has been leading a congressional investigation into President Trump's alleged ties to Russia, had extensive contact last year with a lobbyist for a Russian oligarch who was offering Warner access to former British spy and dossier author Christopher Steele, according to text messages obtained exclusively by Fox News.

"We have so much to discuss u need to be careful but we can help our country," Warner texted the lobbyist, Adam Waldman, on March 22, 2017.

And yes, in that prank phone call that many have forgotten (I forgot), two RUSSIAN comics posing as Ukranians peddled Adam Schiff some dirt about Trump and prostitutes, and Adam Schiff was all ears.

Two Russian comedians, known as Vocan and Lexus, placed a prank call to Schiff pretending to be Andriy Parubiy, the chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament. They claimed to have recordings proving that Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an effort to force Trump to relax sanctions, was blackmailing the president with photographs of him and a model named Olga Buzova.

Schiff responded by asking, "What's the nature of the kompromat?"

After being told that there were naked photos of Trump and the Russian model, Schiff instructed members of his staff to follow up — which they did, attempting to set up a meeting with Parubiy in order to move forward.

Schiff aide Rheanne Wirkkala emailed Vocan and Lexus to follow up:

I understand Mr. Schiff had a productive call with Mr. Parubiy, and that Mr. Parubiy would like to make some material available to Mr. Schiff through your embassy.

Vocan and Lexus provided a copy of that email to The Daily Mail, at which point Schiff and his staffers claimed that they had known it was a hoax all along.
