Biden Gives Incoherent, Decrepit Answer on the Hyde Amendment

Old dog, new gaffe.

Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., who has shunned today’s Democratic Party orthodoxy on issues from crime to compromising with Republicans, again broke with his party’s base and many of his campaign rivals on Wednesday when his campaign confirmed that he still backs the Hyde Amendment, a measure that prohibits the use of federal funds for abortion with exceptions for cases involving rape, incest and when the life of the mother is in danger.

The backlash to Mr. Biden, who despite leading early presidential polls faces skepticism from his party’s progressive wing, came swiftly from lawmakers and activists who support abortion rights, with many noting that the Hyde Amendment disproportionately affects economically disadvantaged women and women of color.

Several of Mr. Biden’s primary opponents moved quickly Wednesday to highlight their own opposition to the Hyde Amendment, underscoring how sharply Mr. Biden's position differs from many in the Democratic field. The measure, which dates to the 1970s, pertains to Medicaid funding of abortion, which is why opponents say the restrictions affect poor women most directly.

That's not the part I'm calling incoherent and decrepit. The incoherent and decrepit part was his attempt at a walk-back or a split-the-baby (so to speak) compromise:

Biden attempted the nonsensical walk-back, saying that if the Supreme Court threatens Roe v. Wade, then he'll withdraw his opposition to using federal funds for abortion -- what?

What has one to do with the other?

This makes no sense. But it's not supposed to. It's an incoherent mess designed to appeal to working class whites while still being enough of a straddle for diehard abortion hobbyists.

Meanwhile, Biden declares that his number-one priority will be passing the so-called Equality Act, which will make it illegal to treat men differently from real women in any venue, from sports to churches:

Get ready for more attacks on people of faith if Joe Biden is elected president. Biden announced at an event in Ohio on Saturday that his number one priority, if elected, will be to enshrine LGBTQ rights into federal law via the Equality Act, a contentious, Orwellian effort by left-wing bullies to silence Christians who believe biblical teachings on marriage and reject the view that boys can be girls and girls can be boys.

During a half-hour speech at the Human Rights Campaign's annual gala in Columbus, Ohio, Biden said, "It's wrong and it is immoral what [the Trump administration] is doing," citing efforts to bar transgender troops from the U.S. military and protect medical providers from being forced to violate their consciences.

And just for fun, Biden's decided to start joking about his habit of inappropriately hand-raping any woman within arm-molestation distance.

Former Vice President Joe Biden joked about his reputation for inappropriately touching women at a campaign event in New Hampshire Tuesday.

The 76-year-old front-running Democratic presidential candidate walked toward the group at his event and assisted one woman in standing up. After the woman called Biden a "sweetheart," the two shared a private conversation as the woman whispered in his ear.

After listening to the woman’s message, Biden announced, "We have a secret going here." His next words were for the ever-watchful media following Biden’s campaign: "And I want the press to know, she pulled me close. I just want you to know, OK?" which sparked laughter among the crowd.
