Exit Polls for Israeli Elections Show Dead Heat; Both Sides Claim Victory
John Sexton at Hot Air has the anxiety-making news.
Israel has a parliamentary system of government, so whichever bloc wins a majority of seats in the Knesset will choose the Prime Minister (currently Netanyahu).
So who is right? Well, they both have a point. It appears the Likud Party won 33 seats in Parliament while the Blue and White Party won 37 seats. That's why Gantz is proclaiming victory. But what really matters is which bloc of parties gets more than 60 seats and it appears the right-wing bloc led by Netanyahu has done that.
So if that's true, then Netanyahu's coalition of right-leaning parties will presumably pick him to continue running the government.
But... it might not be true. It actually is too close to call:
[T]he results are so tight and the exit polls so unreliable that it may take several days to determine who the winner is.
Bibi Has It? A friend of mine watching this closer than I'm watching it says that it looks pretty good for Netanyahu. Though it's a shame it was so damn close.
