LOL CUTE! WIN: BuzzFeed Accused of Mostly Laying Off Gay, Trans, and Minority "Writers"

[T]hose following this news closely are accusing Buzzfeed of laying off mostly POC and LGBTQ employees. Among these minority ethnic and LGBTQ former staff are some well-known figures within Asian American communities like Kane Diep, Niki Ang, Kevin Nguyen, Shila Farahani, Jared Sosa and Ray Pajar, just to name a few. These writers and producers have frequently created content on race, culture, mental health, and issues facing the LGBTQ communities.

Really? Gee, no one knew that thousands of virtually identical NPC "articles" on micro-niche concerns like Gender Identity in Cosplay and Critical Race Deconstructions of Bachelorette Elimination Patterns would not be a money-maker.

No one ever said "Get woke, go broke" for example.

Tim Pool says -- and he has some background in this field, as he used to work for the start-up BuzzFeed-like company Splinter -- that for the past five years or so, all these companies have been doing is paying people with the big pile of venture capital money they got at their inception. None of these companies have ever been profitable (well, BuzzFeed might have been profitable before it got the VC money and went into a Someone Else's Money hiring/luxe office rental spree), and what's happening now is that they're seeing the end of their start-up funds running out, so they are confronted with the need to balance outlays to income for the first time.

And it seems the millionth article about how trans people have trouble finding dates or how the media pushes impossible standards of beauty or that being morbidly obese is super-healthy just isn't going to bring the books into balance.

That said, why does Super White Bread Ben Smith still have a job? Why do the minorities lose their tiny-salary jobs while this White Supremacist keeps his enormous salary? He's failing; why isn't he being fired? Why isn't his salary at least being slashed by 75%?

In related news, Ralph Northam just announced on his financial podcast, "Buy BuzzFeed. They're really trimming the right kind of fat, if you know what I mean. Coonman out."

Update: Northam released a statement: I'm super-sorry I'm such a deep-in-the-bones racist.

He's addressing the photo, but not the "Coonman" nickname.
