Actress Reveals That Woody Allen Began a Sexual Relationship With Her When She Was 16
He has a type: Underaged.
A former actress and model has come forward with claims that she had a relationship with Woody Allen that started when she was 16.
...
"What made me speak is I thought I could provide a perspective," she said. "I'm not attacking Woody. This is not 'bring down this man.' I'm talking about my love story. This made me who I am. I have no regrets."
Allen didn’t provide comment to THR and has not responded to a request for comment by PEOPLE.
Engelhardt said the relationship started when she gave Allen her number at a New York City restaurant in 1976 and he called her a few days later to invite her to his apartment. The two continued a relationship for 8 years in which they often met at his penthouse overlooking Central Park.
"The curtains were always drawn," Engelhardt said. "The view must have been spectacular. I wasn’t there for the view."
Woody Allen's movie Manhattan was about a relationship with a 17 year old girl. The basic story was based on Allen's own sexual relationship with actress Stacey Nelkin.
But Woody Allen changed the age of the girl in the story.
Nelkin was actually 16, not 17.
Actually, now that I re-read that Wikipedia article, it claims that while Allen met Nelkin when she was 16, they both claim the relationship didn't begin until she was 17.
Well. Okay. If you both claim that.
Since Woody Allen's "relationship" with his almost-a-daughter was revealed in 1992, I always think of this scene he wrote for Bananas, in which a mad dictator decrees, for unknown reasons, that "all girls under 16 years old... are now... 16 years old."
I can't see that as anything other than a way around statutory rape.
