The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

As an atheist, I have argued that if religion is erased, something must be put in its place. Belief systems are intrinsic to human intelligence and survival. They “frame” the flux of primary experience, which would otherwise flood the mind. Camille Paglia

Quote II

When someone above the age of young adulthood says that he is searching for himself, it is almost always because he has been behaving badly or has had reversals in life. No one goes off in search of himself whose life is satisfactory. Theodore Dalrymple

Quote III

By picking up the credentials of CNN’s Jim Acosta and booting him out of the White House, Trump has set a good precedent.

Freedom of the press does not mean guaranteed immunity of the press from the same kind of abuse the press directs at the president.Patrick J. Buchanan

Is it paranoia if they are out to get you?

A journalist who has testified twice before the Mueller grand jury said Monday that he expects to be charged in the coming days in the special counsel’s investigation.

“I fully anticipate that in the next few days I will be indicted by Mueller for some form or another for giving false information the special counsel or the grand jury,” Jerome Corsi, a former reporter with Infowars, announced on his daily web show.

So we have heard that Congress-woman elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can't afford an apartment in Washington, D.C until she earns a paycheck or two after being 'inaugurated' in January.

If she had any brains she would have hung around with Maxine Waters and her daughter.

The daughter of Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) will collect more than $200,000 from her mother's campaign after its debts are paid off for leading a lucrative slate mailer operation, Federal Election Commission filings show.

Karen Waters has pulled in hefty payments from the campaign to run a slate mailer operation after the FEC issued an advisory opinion in October 2004 allowing Waters to run the operation from the Citizens for Waters, her mother's campaign committee. Prior to 2006, Karen ran the arrangement through LA Vote, a state committee in California.

Give her some time and Ocasio-Cortez will probably become another self-made millionaire. Or is she really that stupid?

There is a lot of money in the non-profit business. Especially when the poor will always be among you.

Among the hidden hot takes on last week’s election is San Francisco’s Proposition C, whose passage by 60% will reverberate through the region and the country as a whole.

Proposition C was put together by the city’s non-profits working with the homeless who hope to tax companies making over $50 million to come up with $250 to $300 million a year. They promised that the revenue, which would double their budgets, will be used to house the hardcore street dwellers.

These zombified sidewalk dwellers have made national headlines in the past several years. As everyone knows by now, they defecate on public walkways and shoot up in plain view of toddlers hurrying to preschools. They are not required to exchange their plastic syringes, so much of their contaminated plastic refuse floats away into the Pacific, where, I imagine, it gets stuck in the noses of hapless turtles.

I guess this comes as no surprise from the state which gave us Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, Angus King and Jessica Fletcher. Computer algorithm to decide congressional election.

The election drew to a close last week in most places but not in fishing villages, potato farms and vast tracts of wilderness that comprise Maine’s 2nd Congressional District.

The four-way political battle won’t conclude until a computer algorithm has the final say this week on whether Republican Rep. Bruce Poliquin wins re-election or is ousted by Democratic state lawmaker Jared Golden.

It is one of 13 undecided House seats.

The new way of voting in which all candidates are ranked on a ballot made its national debut in U.S. House and Senate races in Maine.

Under the system, a candidate wins with a majority of first-place votes. If there’s no majority, the last-place candidate’s second-place votes are reallocated to remaining candidates. The computerized process can be repeated until there’s a winner.

Julian Assange's world is really f*cked up.

Julian Assange’s sanctuary in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London has been transformed into a little shop of horrors. He has been largely cut off from communicating with the outside world for the last seven months. His Ecuadorian citizenship, granted to him as an asylum seeker, is in the process of being revoked. His health is failing. He is being denied medical care. His efforts for legal redress have been crippled by the gag rules, including Ecuadorian orders that he cannot make public his conditions inside the embassy in fighting revocation of his Ecuadorian citizenship

That will show them. Civil disobedience. UK Style.

Climate change protesters plan day of civil disobedience

Demonstrators have blockaded the UK energy department in London over what they call the climate change crisis.

At least one person has been arrested, the Met Police confirmed.

The UK is seen as a leader in policies to reduce greenhouse gases and ministers will soon be considering tougher targets.

But the protesters say research suggests the chance of keeping global temperature rise under a 2C danger threshold is just one in 20.

The demonstrators blocked entry to the offices by lying chained together on the pavement, while some glued themselves to the doors of the department building.

Will this be played in basement's everywhere or at the kids table? Monopoly for Millennials.

Just in time for the holidays, Hasbro has released "Monopoly for Millennials", the game where you're encouraged to take a break from the rat race because "adulting is hard."

This should go over well.

Is it vile? Yes. Is it disgusting? Yes. Is it politically incorrect? Yes. Is it illegal? Probably not.

Mueller confirmed that the image includes students from her school district “who appear to be making extremely inappropriate gestures,” yet said that it “was not taken on school property or at a school-sponsored event.”

She added that the district “is investigating this situation and is working with parents, staff and local authorities.”

“If the gesture is what it appears to be, the district will pursue any and all available and appropriate actions, including legal, to address the issue,” Mueller said. “With that, we want to be very clear: the Baraboo School District is a hate-free environment where all people, regardless of race, color, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin or ancestry, are respected and celebrated.”

So Baraboo, how is all that spending working out for you?

Disapproval via motor vehicle. Genius Award Winner.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said it responded to an incident in which a car crashed into a home Sunday morning.

The crash caused significant damage to the home, according to deputies. According to the deputies, the crash was intentional.

During the deputies' investigation, they discovered that the homeowner had another person with her at the home and the suspect, Darrin Dewayne Touchton, 58, "did not approve."

No regrets. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Ralph MacLean served in the Canadian military in WWII and was stationed in Hong Kong where he was captured on Christmas Day 1941.

He was held as a prisoner of war until he was rescued by American soldiers at the end of the war in August 1945.

"It was a very traumatic and frightening part of my life and remains almost as vivid as when it happened," MacLean said.
