The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

Great humor has to be close to the truth, and this is spot on. The Leviathan has arrived, and Hobbes was wrong. Government has insinuated itself into every bit of our lives. Can anyone go a day or a week without contact with or subservience to the Federal government? I doubt it, and that is an untenable political philosophy. Instead of the central government preserving and defending my rights while providing a loose structure in which the various states can operate and, hopefully thrive, it has wrested control of everything. When an Hawaiian judge can dictate the behavior of another state's body politic, we have arrived at a dictatorship, not of the proletariat, but of the unelected bureaucrats who are the whip hand of of the elites in Washington. We have had sporadic tastes of the whip (Ruby Ridge, Waco, Cliven Bundy, etc), and President Trump's evisceration of Federal regulation is a start, but we must push back hard and forever if we mean to reclaim our freedoms.

Stray thought: maybe if the government wasn't a $4 trillion, panopticon, armed-to-the-teeth leviathan, we wouldn't consider elections as a life-or-death struggles that morally justify violence.

The original intent of some very smart people was a federal government that smoothed the differences between states with the goal of unity, not homogeneity. A casual reading of the United States Constitution does not reveal a structure designed to inhibit, rather, it is to protect and defend us from the excesses of government. How many of us can say that we have been defended by our Federal government? Very few. I certainly can't. It has allowed the state in which I live to destroy the 2nd Amendment with nary a peep from its hyper-politicized judiciary. One pistol per month, magazines of no more than 10-round capacity, no legal ability to carry outside of the home, regulations on the types of ammunition, an onerous process to obtain dispensation from the state to exercise one's natural right to self defense, and the Federal government has ignored the cries of its citizens to do exactly what it was created to do!

Friend of the blog Kurt Schlichter absolutely nails it here, and it's well worth a read just for the chuckles. And as I read this column I realized that it encapsulates the differences between the Left and the True Right (not the Lido-Deck Cucks who have claimed that mantle for two generations). No, I'm not talking about political philosophies...that is axiomatic. I am referring to the famous Dildo Scale. Would you want to sit at a bar and have a few drinks with this person?

The hangers-on are getting hung-off. Jennifer Rubin's a hysterical joke in all senses of the term. Bill Kristol? No one with any conservative heat will return his calls. He's still lobbing the occasional tweet repeating liberal talking points and receiving a tsunami of cruise ship emojis in response from disgusted Normals. When the clueless donors he milks finally wise up, he's toast.

How many commenters and pundits on the Left seem like fun people to have a beer with and watch some baseball while shooting the breeze about politics and guns and sex and bratty millennials and a hundred other topics that normals enjoy?

I can't think of a single one.
