The Attack On American Culture Proceeds Apace

The Left is conducting a multi-front war on traditional American culture and mores, and as most of us know the main thrust is on college campuses (although k-12 is not just a diversionary attack).

This is a notice posted in the various class tents during reunion week at a college that will remain nameless. Suffice it to say that it is prestigious, and rapidly descending into the muck of post-modern, SJW nonsense that will soon damage its reputation and severely injure its ability to raise money from its alumni.

Notice the offensive manipulation of language...the mandarins at this school are so viciously dismissive of the fraternity system that they are unwilling to use the word! And the pretend agreement is of course arrant nonsense. The administration bullied the alumni organizations into accepting a ridiculous, demeaning and infantilizing restriction on alcohol because in their opinion drinking is inextricably linked to fraternities, and fraternities are the Devil!

What is so incredibly shortsighted and dangerous is their inability to understand what they have set in motion. The strong and vibrant (and rich) alumni network is based in part on the particular draw of this school...reunions, fraternity networks all over the world, clubs and get-togethers based solely on the emotional connection to the college. This translates directly to donations. And where do those donations come from? Not from Lesbian Studies majors or Physics Before Newton majors! No, the donations come from those hard-drinking and (sometimes) hard-studying frat boys who went on to become partners at major law firms and M&A experts and venture capital gurus and successful physicians. That's where the money comes from, and destroying the very things that keep these people coming back and opening their wallets is a recipe for disaster.

This is being repeated across the country...the fraternity system is under attack at most colleges and universities in America. Why? Because fraternities have been part of the fabric of American culture for generations, and anything that smacks of tradition must be destroyed. The drinking and objectification of women is just a convenient excuse.

[Lest you think I am a middle-aged frat boy pining for his youth, disabuse yourself of that notion. I found the fraternity system at my school to be quite unpleasant, and had nothing to do with it.]
