Thread before the Gardening Thread: No Snark Week [KT]
Serving your mid-day open thread needs
Happy Saturday! I am out of snark today. I am even out of irony. Among other dramatic events of the week, I watched emergency crews at our home and at the hospital work together pretty intelligently to bring our friend back from the brink of death. Changes your perspective some. I plan to write some notes of appreciation. Lots of prayers were said in his behalf, too.
The things our friend cared about when he came back to consciousness a few days later were the people he knows and his little dog. And making sure that his private world was in order. My to-do list has changed as a result of this experience with him. Maybe it shouldn't take something so traumatic to prompt us to remember some of those important things we have been putting off.
I've been following the news, but my mind is not on analysis right now. This is an open thread, so if you have an observation on the world of media or politics, feel free. It was a remarkable week in more ways than one.
But if you're ready for a breather, I have been saving a video for a while that you might appreciate, or at least find interesting. I like the idea of people feeling free to ramble alone in the park, in the dark. I guess that was a different time.
Here's a little slicker version of the song, Ella singing with the Duke Ellington Orchestra:
Can't imagine these being recorded today.
Anything interesting happen to you or near you this week? Got any interesting plans for the weekend?
