Wilkommen, Mörder: Murder of 14 Year Old Girl by Rejected Asylum-Seeker Has Germans Questioning Angela Merkel's Open-Borders Immigration Policy
John Sexton at Hot Air reports.
Susanna Maria Feldman was a 14-year-old German girl who disappeared in late May. Her mother received a text from her daughter’s phone in broken German which read, "Don't look for me. I come in 2 or 3 weeks." Responding to a tip, police discovered her body in a wooded area not far from a refugee center in Wiesbaden. Susanna had been raped and strangled.
The suspect in the case, 20-year-old Ali Bashar, is an asylum seeker whose claim had been rejected in 2016 but who was still living in Germany while he appealed the decision. After Susanna disappeared, Bashar, his parents, and his five siblings all fled Germany for Iraq under fake names. Last week he was arrested in northern Iraq where he was arrested and apparently confessed to the crime. He was extradited back to Germany for trial. The NY Times reports the story is a media sensation in Germany and once again has people wondering about the wisdom of Angela Merkel’s refugee policy...
Merkel is still defending her "humanitarian response" which let more than a million refugees enter the country in 2015.
Sexton notes that this is not the only rejected asylum-seeker turned killer. The Christmas Market Attack of 2016 was also carried out by a man whose asylum request had been rejected, but who had not yet been deported. Driving a stolen truck into a mass of Christmas celebrants, he murdered 12 people and injured 56 others.
Of course not all asylum seekers are dangerous. Few are.
However, these cases point up important divisions in Western societies.
First, between those who wish to invite the world in versus those who want to control who comes in, screening them, checking their background. The invite-the-world crowd figures all that can be done with the asylum-seeker or illegal immigrant already in-country; but of course an illegal immigrant is hard to find once in country. And if he murders while in the country -- you can't undo that through post-facto bureaucratic paperwork.
Second, between those who believe a nation's first duty is to its own citizens and those who believe citizenship is a meaningless incident at bets and positive racism at worse. To the We Are All Citizens of the World crowd, there is no difference whatsoever between a citizen being murdered and a nation causing possible harm to a non-citizen by refusing him entry. All lives are equally valuable, so it shouldn't matter if a German is killed by a Syrian asylum seeker, or that asylum-seeker dies in an ISIS bomb in Syria.
Needless to say, German citizens tend to disagree with their Transnational Cosmopolitan political class on this point, just as American citizens disagree with their own transnational cosmopolitan ruling class.
And it gets worse, too:
Finally, all of this happens at the same time that a separate cash-for-asylum scandal has been developing in Germany.
Ah, government officials fattening their wallets at the expense of the citizenry they're supposed to serve. How unexpected.
