Conservative Summit Denies Press Credentials to Samantha Bee, Citing Feckless C***iness

Well, they didn't cite that.

They did cite unfairness.

"In 2016, Samantha Bee's production team came to the Western Conservative Summit. They did not provide fair coverage. Instead, they bullied and harassed our attendees. Conservatives are tired of being mistreated by the liberal media. Shows like 'Full Frontal with Samantha Bee' are not intent on reporting but bullying and shaming conservatives. Her request for media credentials to the Western Conservative Summit have been denied."

In 2017, Samatha Bee's crew was unwisely permitted into CPAC (not the same confab as the Conservative Summit) and mocked a man for having "Nazi hair." It turns out he was a cancer patient and I guess that's the hair he had to work with.

Meanwhile, Jon Stewart, who pretends to be some kind of thoughtful pacifist in the culture wars when he's not torturing and immolating heretics, defends Samantha Bee and claims that outrage over the "c***" remark is just a "game" by the right.

The former 'Daily Show' host said that the indignation over the issue was all part of a "strategy" conservatives use and it was "working."

According to a report in The Daily Beast, Stewart was asked about the Bee controversy during a Q&A session. The former Daily Show host took exception to White House tactics to get the TBS show canceled arguing that it was all part of a "game" that the political right in the U.S. play. "They don’t give a shit about the word 'c---,'"the Daily Beast quoted Stewart saying, alluding to the Trump administration.

Stewart wasn't buying the outrage from the right, implying that Bee shouldn't have apologized, and he suggested it was all calculated and part of the "'we're the real victims' game" conservatives play. "It's a game, it's a strategy and it’s working," he said.

Some conservatives -- like me -- don't really care about the c-word itself, but we are still outraged over the disgusting hypocrisy and double-standards that essentially make all non-progressives into a lower caste.

I think comics should be allowed a certain amount of latitude in their jokes, and I understand that sometimes one can score an easy joke by just going more extreme and outrageous. And even though I'd agree that easy jokes -- clappers -- are the least worthy of jokes, easy jokes are nevertheless important to comics, especially unfunny hacks like Samatha Bee. But even funny comics resort to easy jokes. They can't all be winners. The ten good jokes you have in a set might have to be padded out with ten lame, hacky jokes.

And a couple of "I said a dirty word" jokes, where excitement-starved shut-ins gasp, "Oh my God, she said that word that I've heard dozens of people say and I've said myself but oh wow she said it on the Holy Indoctrination Box, the teevee!!! What a day in America!!1"

That said, the left makes the following two demands:

1. That the left shall define what is categorically, without-exception, no-wiggle-room forbidden to say.

2. That the left shall also decide who shall have the benefit of exceptions to these rules they've imposed on all of us, which allegedly have no exceptions or wiggle-room in them.

Your demands have been considered and your demands have been rejected.

The people most responsible for imposing this Reign of Terror on the rest of us should be the first to suffer the penalties for Wrongspeech they demand in others. They should not be immune to their own fucking rules.
