From An Outsider's Perspective California Is Nuts

In 2017 Los Angeles had a homeless population of 58,000 people. The homeless census of 2018 just took place.

The annual three-day effort to update Los Angeles County’s homeless figures is underway. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requires the count in all areas that seek federal funds to address homelessness.

After last year’s count, officials said there were nearly 58,000 homeless people in the county. The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority will release this year’s results in the spring. It is the first census since funds began to flow from two recent tax measures for homeless services and housing.

More tax money thrown at the problem doesn't seem to be helping.

Los Angeles County's homeless population is increasing faster than the supply of new housing, even with the addition of thousands of beds in the last two years and millions of dollars beginning to flow in from two ballot measures targeting the crisis, according to a long-awaited report by the region's homelessness agency.

The report showed that officials two years ago far underestimated how much new housing would be needed when they asked city and county voters to approve the tax measures.

Not only does La La Land have money to throw at homeless. It also has money to curb global warming.

The City of Los Angeles, and CBS LA, unintentionally expose what a huge component of what the reality of global warming is: namely, that so much of the recorded temperatures are artificially inflated from the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, as well as land use. Yes, these are anthropogenic, but, they are not causing future doom, and the reliance on blamestorming a tiny increase in the atmospheric carbon dioxide content is a bunch of mule fritters

(CBS LA) In the race to combat climate change, the city of Los Angeles is employing a surprising new tactic — covering its streets in a grayish-white coating known as CoolSeal.

It’s sprayed onto the roadway with trucks, then spread across the surface with squeegees. However, its impact extends far beyond the edge of the pavement.

Will California split up? California may have an opportunity to split their state up into 3 states.

Billionaire venture investor Tim Draper on Thursday said he has the signatures he needs to put his initiative to break up California into three states before the state’s voters.

Draper said in a press release that he has gathered about 600,000 signatures for his “Cal 3” initiative that would divide the country’s most populous state into three new ones: Northern California, Southern California and California.

Los Angeles would be in the new California. The farmland and forested areas, along with San Francisco and the Silicon Valley technology hub, would be turned into the two other states.

The signatures on the Cal 3 petition have yet to be certified, so it isn’t officially on the ballot yet.

But people aren't waiting for sanity to come back. They are leaving. And depending on your point of view, leaving in droves.

VICTORVILLE — Billy Joel’s classic tune “Movin’ Out” could be an appropriate theme song for the many individuals in the High Desert and California who have packed up and relocated to places like Oregon, Michigan, Arizona, Texas and Idaho.

The Golden State continues to rank No. 1 as the state that has waved goodbye to more residents, about 143,000 last year, than welcomed those who have moved here, according to a U.S. Census Bureau report.

And despite the state losing 3.5 million people to other states from 2010 to 2015, many demographic experts said there is no mass exodus from California.
