Inspector General Asking If Andrew McCabe Slow-Walked Examination Into Hillary Emails Found on Anthony Weiner's Computer to Put Issue Off Until After Election
Twitchy has a digest of the Washington Post report.
From the Washington Post. Can this be why Wray forced McCabe out?
Or is this just part of the drip-drip-drip?
The Justice Department's inspector general has been focused for months on why Andrew McCabe, as the No. 2 official at the FBI, appeared not to act for about three weeks on a request to examine a batch of Hillary Clinton-related emails found in the latter stages of the 2016 election campaign, according to people familiar with the matter.
The inspector general, Michael E. Horowitz, has been asking witnesses why FBI leadership seemed unwilling to move forward on the examination of emails found on the laptop of former congressman Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) until late October -- about three weeks after first being alerted to the issue, according to these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive matter.
A key question of the internal investigation is whether McCabe or anyone else at the FBI wanted to avoid taking action on the laptop findings until after the Nov. 8 election, these people said. It is unclear whether the inspector general has reached any conclusions on that point.
Remember, if you think that any high-ranking Democrats in the DoJ or FBI were influenced at all by partisan dedication to getting Hillary Clinton elected, you are, according to the (former) thought leaders of the (supposed) intellectual right, a Conspiracy Theorist much like the John Birch Society who had to be purged from the ranks of the conservative movement, and must be purged oncemore.
Oh, and Devlin Barrett reported that? Where do I know that name from?
Oh right.
By the way, have I mentioned that you should, as a conservative, always trust all officials at the FBI, because they were suits and carry guns and you as a conservative are required to be gay for guns and suits?
Even when, for example, the FBI claims that the "lost" Strzok-Page texts cannot possibly recovered and yet they can be recovered, in a rather recovery routine process.
DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz was also informed by the FBI that the text messages could not be retrieved because of the technical problems that occurred when the bureau switched from the Samsung 5 phones to the Samsung 7 phones. But Horowitz's investigation last week into the missing text messages led to the request for the cellphones, which allowed the Inspector General's team the ability to begin retrieving texts.
..
A former FBI special agent, who worked extensively on counterterrorism related cases, stated they were "dumbfounded" by the FBI's original excuse that the text messages were irretrievable.
"Even though the servers 'lost' the text messages of Strzok they would still be on his actual device, even if he deleted them," stated the former FBI special agent, who asked to speak on background due to the sensitivity of the case. "That's how we catch bad guys, we forensically search their phones. Nothing disappears off the device, nothing... unless they take a hammer to it or microwave it. The question is, the FBI knows this, so why did the bureau say they couldn’t retrieve them -- why did they mislead Congress."
Remember, if you notice any wrongdoing by a credentialed authority figure in a suit with access to guns, you're not a Real Conservative (TM), but a conspiracy theorist and also a likely racist.
