Sojourn In Violet And Red
Wilbur "Tripp" Dreibeinerschwein
Descended on his mother's side from Sir Francis Bacon and on his father's side from Alexander Hamilton, the little-known modern American artist Tripp Dreibeinerschwein was truly a child prodigy. Born on a small farm in northern Colorado he could recognize basic colors by six months of age. With the encouragement of his father, Tripp did his first primitive paintings before the age of one. Painting soon became the focus of his life.
As time went by his style became less sloppy and more rooted in the stylized forms of post-modern expressionism. Upon his initial entree into the art world, critics panned his early work, but he refused to feed at the trough of the mainstream art world. His lifestyle however, hampered his work. He started smoking early and soon turned to pot. He produced some of his more controversial works while 'baked'. He eventually found a cure for his addictions and went on to have a productive career. Following his death, a private memorial dinner was held in his honor by his family for a few select guests.
