The Morning Report 12/29/17
Good morning kids. Friday and the weekend is here, and the last Morning Report for the year. And what a year it has been. Grab yourself a nice hot cup of coved-foo-foo and let's dive in. First up, Daniel Greenfield breaks down, in his own inimitable style, why Donald Trump is Front Page Mag's man of the year for 2017. Obviously, all of us around these parts know the reasons but it still makes for a great read. Meanwhile, Breitbart stalwart James Delingpole delivers a sobering warning about the formidable challenge presented by the New Red-Green Movement's infestation into the world of high finance and investment. What they could not or cannot achieve through the courts and Congress, they will get through coercion, corruption and outright sabotaging of venture capital markets. Nothing to sneeze at given the staggering value of money we're talking about. Kill the Green Blob, indeed.
And there is still a shit-ton of house cleaning that needs to be done at the State Dept., which is more like the Deep State Dept. as Obama holdovers are still infecting the joint and derailing our efforts with Iran and elsewhere. Foggy Bottom needs to be fumigated, as well as the DoJ, FBI, CIA and all the rest, given the most recent revelations from Judicial Watch vis a vis the Kollusion Kangaroo Kourt.
Moving right along, in the vein of looking back on the year that was we have some popcorn worthy replays of some of Tu-Ca's greatest hits, as well as Conservative Review's 10 best and worst of PDT's foreign policy moves for his first year.
Roy Moore maintains, and not without good reason, really, that a fair amount of fraud and shenanigans may have cost him the Alabama special election. Even still, Doug Jones will be certified by Alabama's Secretary of State and the lawsuit Moore brought has been tossed. I have mixed feelings about this. It would've been nice for the lawsuit to occur even if Moore had no shot at winning if for no other reason than for the testimony to reveal the Democrat Left fraud operation and its machinations.
In a couple of somewhat tangential links, Rich Logis at American Thinker warns that in the wake of Alabama, the concept of a permanent and solid red state is dead and that we would do well to take heed of the implications going forward. And yet at the same time, in the wake PDT's first year, the Left is eating itself alive vis a vis Groperdammerung and the internal civil war between the Trotskyites and the Shining Path Maoist faction. And bereft of any solid policy ideas, they are yet again devolving to playing the race card as a strategy as well as running on impeachment. Interesting how, as I scan the inter-webz for links, you either see 2018 as a disaster for the GOP or the Democrats will be wiped out in an electoral tsunami as PDT's tax cuts and other policies kick into high gear. I guess bottom line is I'm expecting the latter but we should do all we can to not rest on laurels and prevent the former.
From a purely anecdotal standpoint, I have a poll (yes, I know) indicating that half of all Americans across all political lines now believe that the Media is absolutely generating fake news in order to damage the President. All things considered, I do believe that their power to shape and control the narrative has been seriously torpedoed and that is a good thing in the long run. The tell is the absolute shrillness, volume and open partisanship of those who are supposed to be impartial, not the pundits.
From hither and yon, we have Coulter on Kwanzaa, a record number of Americans are now on Social Security, an Oregon Court upholds a huge fine for the Christian bakers who refused to bake a homo wedding cake, a deadly fire swept through a Bronx apartment building killing at least 12, including a one-year-old infant, and lastly, we note the passing of actress/comedienne Rose Marie at age 94. RIP.
Before I leave, I just want to give a shout-out to Bluebell and Weasel for the Moron Cookbook. I got mine the other day and it is impressive. Thick! Seriously, The quality is both rare and well done.
Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed. Wishing you all a happy, healthy and safe new year!
