Sexual Harassment: Eh, No Thanks, We Have Other Things To Do, Like Work.

Most of us have worked during some part of our lives. Some have worked for themselves selling lemonade or writing code or owned their own business or worked for small business with just a few employees or, like me, worked for a big corporation with policies and procedures and training for just about everything under the sun, including sexual harassment.

No, not how to do it...how to deal with it. And where I worked it was simple. Don't do it, because your ass will be walked out the door if you get caught. And if you are told about it or learn about it, it is your responsibility to act in the manner in which you were trained. That means notifying your manager and HR. It was very carefully explained to us that it can never be a secret between you and another employee. "Please don't tell anyone" is never an adequate reason for not taking it to the next level.

But mostly it is common sense. Maybe I was weird, but I didn't go to work to find a hook-up or flirt with the hot chick in Loss Prevention (she wasn't...I made that up). It was to get my work done well and move up the ladder and get the hell out of there so I could have a life. And that attitude was almost universal among my peers.

Did it happen? Of course it did. I am not naive. And there was screwing around...of that I am sure. And did people get fired? You bet! Because the workplace dynamic is ripe for abuse, so when it happened there was a much more significant possibility that the relationship, real or imagined, would veer quickly into inappropriate behavior.

But most people don't do that kind of crap because they know better. It seems as though the epidemic is caused, at least in part, by our society's creation of an elite class of celebrities and politicians, who have been taught from the moment they got their first table at an impossible-to-get-reservations restaurant or their first fawning interview with a fluffing reporter that they are special. And special means above the little people. And special means powerful.
And powerful means exercising that power over women and men who are lower in the hierarchy.

And maybe the very structure of the entertainment and political industries makes abuse in those places more common. The typical progression in most industries is arithmetic, where your work is recognized and you climb the ladder, with normal increases in position and pay. But in politics and Hollywood, the payoff can be geometric...huge and immediate. The difference in pay between a leading lady's role and an extra is millions of dollars. The difference in opportunity between being a senior aide for a congressman and being just another drone is huge: connections to lobbyists and other congressmen and industry leaders.

But do not let the progressive/SJW narrative that all men are predators seep into your consciousness as anything other than a ridiculous point to be derided and mocked and scoffed at. The men (and I guess some women) who are doing this are bad people who seek to dominate. They are the exception...not the rule. They are not normal. They are not well adjusted. They are in some cases clearly sociopathic. These are not suitors whose advances were rejected. These are predators who seek out the weak and the compliant and the needy and take what they want.

That the media is allowing the progressive-industrial-complex to conflate a clumsy pass with molestation and rape and domination is a disgusting example of exactly who they are...tools of the Left.

Here is an idiot fellow-traveler tarring all men with the rapist/murderer brush....

And here is our very own AtC ripping her a new one...
