BREAKING: Mugabe Reported Detained by Military, Whereabouts Unknown; Officials Deny Coup in Zimbabwe as Exiled VP Returns

Good morning kids. Above the fold, we have breaking news that at long last the nation-killing cancer of Robert Mugabe may at last have been excised from what was formerly known as Rhodesia and is now Zimbabwe. For those too young to remember, before the coming of Mugabe, Rhodesia/Zimbabwe was once the breadbasket of Africa. Without getting into too much of a history lesson, it was the stupidity of surprise! Jimmy Carter that led to the installation of a tyrant who for the past 37 years raped an entire nation. From a fantastic 10-part series Investors Business Daily published back in 2007 chronicling the then worst president in US history...

In Rhodesia, Carter kept up sanctions begun under his predecessors. But he went further by undermining the election of Bishop Abel Muzorewa as prime minister in 1979 to protest the exclusion of candidate Robert Mugabe. In response to Carter's pressure, new elections were held, giving Mugabe the victory he has held onto as Africa's worst dictator. Thank you, Jimmy Carter.

In a not unrelated story below, Venezuela, which at one point was the Rhodesia of South America from an economic standpoint, is now officially bust. Here's hoping Venezuela does not have to go the full Mugabe before sanity is restored and that, pace Stevie Wonder, peace can finally come to Zimbabwe. Obviously the situation is still fluid so stay tuned for updates as and when they develop.

Still in the lead obviously is the Roy Moore high-tech lynching. Ace had a rather sobering post about next steps and ramifications. I still maintain that while I respect all women who allege sexual misconduct, the accused is still innocent until proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that he is guilty. Now we learn that the Strange campaign tried verifying and using these allegations in the runoff election but that they failed. Where was the media and Gloria Allred at that point? In any case, Strange is still maintaining his lead over the Democrat but with several weeks to go, that gap may tighten and, G-d forbid, disappear, although several polls are suggesting that Moore's support is actually stiffening because of a general distrust of the media. As I have postulated, and I'm no great brain, this whole thing stinks of Mitch McConnell and the Establishment. And once again, Rush Limbaugh has been cribbing my notes (yeah, sure):

Well, whether Judge Moore did the deed or deeds or not, what's really happening here, folks, if you really want to know - I mean, it's a multifaceted search-and-destroy mission here, but what's really driving this - do not doubt me on this - what's really driving this is Mitch McConnell saying to Steve Bannon, "Really? You think you're gonna get your guys elected? You think you're gonna get your guys elected and me kicked outta here? Really? Seriously? Okay, watch this."

Don't forget that Judge Moore, Trump did not endorse him, but Steve Bannon, I don't know, enforced, chose, got behind, supports, what have you, and Bannon has been very up front about the objective he has, and that is to get Mitch McConnell out of the Senate. Even if all we had was one allegation against Judge Moore, this was gonna be it for Judge Moore, didn't matter, because this is now being used to send a message to Bannon and his group that you think you're gonna get rid of me, well, take a look at what's gonna happen every time you try.

Lots of other stories are breaking, including accusations by Leftist congress critter Jackie Speier that a Democrat and GOP congressman are harassing females in the House, to which Mark Levin has demanded McConnell and Ryan step down. Heh

AG Sessionzzzzzz testified before Congress and the Democrats put on a puerile, disgusting display of abject Roland Freisler-like demagoguery. Lastly, there was a shooting at a California school that has left five people dead and at least 10 wounded. Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street.
