The Morning Report 11/9/17
Good morning kids. A number of things to cover today so let's dive right in. First up, in the wake of election losses in Virginia and New Jersey, some salient things to remember, which we of course touched on yesterday but I think are worth repeating. This is about Virginia since Jersey is politically a lost cause, for the foreseeable future. So, in Virginia there were a number of factors beyond our control that contributed to Ed Gillespie losing. 1) the counties just over the Potomac are essentially extensions of DC itself and will vote reliably Democrat from now on, 2) there has been an invasion of aliens of the Latino variety, illegal and otherwise, as well as a recent massive influx of the "Asian" variety (read "Muslim countries") that has tipped the balance 3) Terry McAuliffe illegally granted voting rights to well over 200,000 ex-cons, and even stooped to signing individual amnesties one by one when the court intervened. So taken in toto, Virginia is now effectively a blue state much by virtue of one large metropolitan area.
Now, the other factor is Ed Gillespie. He's a typical establishmentarian candidate who has no love for Donald Trump and his agenda; he ran the same, scripted unappealing GOP-e campaign designed to fail from the get-go. Now the takeaways are, let the purging of the RINOs continue full speed ahead. The sooner we can rid ourselves of it the better. 2018 is a year away, and it's both an eternity and a heartbeat in political terms. The GOP-e under McCriminal and Ryno has got to accept the fact that PDT has won and has a mandate to get his agenda moved forward (clearly they don't). While effectively the elections yesterday don't mean that much, despite the Left insisting that it's the downfall of Trump, it is a reminder that the only thing the Democrats have going for them is their abject rage against PDT. And that is a factor that is highly motivating and not to be dismissed. With the exception of 2005, every off-year election cycle has seen the incumbent's party defeated in Congress. If the GOP loses control of the House, a Democrat majority will move forward with impeachment, no matter how absolutely insane that would be. Sadly, the GOP as of right now refuses to see this and perhaps is secretly (or not so secretly) hoping for this outcome. It's obvious that the past 11 months have been for them to act in a rearguard action to act as proxy Democrats to blockade and buffalo the President's agenda. This must stop. How it stops, I have no idea.
In other news, the President's trip to Asia by all honest accounts (if you can find them anywhere) has so far been a smashing success. He delivered another fantastic speech in Seoul and is going to be the first US president and foreign leader to be feted in the Forbidden City. Let's not however delude ourselves that China, despite the photo ops and joint communiques, is perhaps our greatest rival and actual foe moving forward. Despite PDT's past rhetoric about trade, the NorKs and Chi-Com militarization, that regime has treated the president with a visible level of respect that stands in sharp contrast to President Previous.
Good times as always from Tucker Carlson. Donna Brazile actually went up against him and he laughed in her face when she gave a lame excuse about giving Hillary the questions ahead of time in last years Democrat primary debate. And speaking of Brazile, Rush Limbaugh's theory about her book is that she is paving the way for Moochelle to run in 2020. While I think the book is definitely designed to shut Hillary up and prevent her from taking the Democrat party down, I just can't see a woman who is perhaps as unappealing and hateful as Michelle Obama beating Donald Trump. With the base already fuming at the DNC for rigging 2016, there is no doubt they will rig it again in 2020 and it could cleave the party in two. Pass the popcorn.
Rand Paul's neighbors have come out and ripped the media narrative about the lawn mower excuse to shreds. The Senator's neighbor is known to them as a raging leftist and this attack was, as I think we all have suspected, politically motivated. And naturally, some on the Left are cheering it.
Lastly, a feel good story about the elections, a 93-year-old World War II veteran has shocked the small community of Tinton Falls, NJ by beating a long-time incumbent mayor. Congratulations Mayor-Elect Vito Perillo.
Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.
