I heard some describe Hopper as the anti-Rockwell. Not in style, but in subject. They both painted about the same time, but where Rockwell was an romantic idealist, Hopper's subjects have a serious melancholy about them.
I had never heard that, but I like the description. And I like Hopper, but if you don't like a little repetition in artist choice I have some links for you....
