World Series Thread (Slapweasel)
Ace has stuff below this thread and will probably post something above (damn, he's on fire!). So let's keep this one a lighthearted and fancy-free baseball thread.
As we approach tonight's World Series game at 8:00 Eastern, 5:00 Pacific on FOX, we find ourselves in the midst of a
Restaurant-Quality battle. While we usually throw out the Regular Season stuff, (as we should), Home and Away records are of interest.
During the regular season, the Los Angeles Dodgers had a .580 record on the road. The Houston Astros had a .593 record at Minute Maid Park. Not much of a difference there, so we look to the starting pitching.
Tonight, Yu Darvish takes on Lance McCullers Jr. If Yu Darvish can keep his walks at a minimum, he has more pitches than an insurance salesman at a broken leg Convention. McCullers has the same problem.
Walks will be an issue tonight. The offense with the command of the strike zone will win. Vice-Versa, the pitching with the least command of the strike zone will lose.
We knew coming into this World Series that two 100-win teams opposing each other for the first time in 47 years made for special stuff. Turns out, the Astros and Dodgers are up to the task of ensuring the Series itself is as special as the statistical oddity.
• World Series Game 3: Tonight, 7:30 ET air time: 8 ET game time on FOX.
Tied turning: Classic to rock Houston tonight
For those of you less than interested in the World Series, you can peruse the food available at the ballparks. If you haven't heard about "Dodger Dogs," I feel sorry for you. In any case...
