Who Paid for the Dodgy Dossier? FusionGPS Officials Plead the Fifth Amendment
I know I mentioned this yesterday, but someone with a large megaphone piped up:
Remember -- we do not know that an "anti-Trump Republican" commissioned this dossier. That was an anonymous claim made to someone. Given that this organization is staffed up with spooks, I hardly think it is implausible that that was disinformation planted to obscure the actual patron of the PeePeeParty Dossier.
Which could very well be Russia itself-- FusionGPS was/is working for Russia to overturn the Magnitsky Act, after all.
And see this May 3rd piece from Molly Hemingway, noting this exchange between Republican Senators and James Comey:
Graham: Are you familiar with Fusion?
Comey: I know the name.
Graham: Are they part of the Russian intelligence apparatus?
Comey: I can't say.
Graham: Do you agree with me that if Fusion was involved in preparing a dossier against Donald Trump, that would be interfering in our election by the Russians?
Comey: I don't want to say.
The FBI continues to stonewall about its own involvement with the dossier -- maybe they commissioned it. They won't say anything about it.
I don't think Sessions can order them to stop stonewalling, because he's recused himself from the Russia investigation entirely. But other people can, including deputy AG Rosenstein and new Director Wray.
So why don't they? What are they hiding?
Corrected: I called Deputy AG Ron Rosenstein AG Rosenberg. I've fixed that.
I don't really wake up until 4pm, if ever.
