ISIS Doubles and Then Triples Down on Claim that Vegas Madman Was "Inspired" By Them

They're claiming he converted to Islam six or seven months ago, and was one of theirs.

However, the FBI says there is no evidence at all of any linkage to any international terrorist group as of yet.

Also, important to note: While it had previously been true that ISIS hasn't admitted guilt in any attacks it wasn't actually guilty of (even if only if to directly "inspire" them), a reporter points out that recently, they've made two false claims.

An intelligence analyst notes that while they keep claiming this, they are offering no proof at all for their claims. One would think that, at a minimum, for someone to be said to be "inspired" by ISIS, you'd have evidence of him visiting ISIS websites or even emailing with someone in ISIS. No evidence of such has been offered by anyone yet.

That analyst notes that there is a lot of value in ISIS claiming some "victory," which may well outweigh their desire to appear credible.

Meanwhile, there do seem to be some terroristic attacks that occurred over the weekend which ISIS may have more genuine culpability for.

In Edmonton, Canada, a Muslim man perpetrated yet another stabbing-and-vehicular rundown attack.

A 30-year-old man is in custody following a high-speed chase just before midnight through streets filled with bar patrons and football fans. A man stabbed a police officer with a knife and deliberately plowed into pedestrians on Edmonton's busiest downtown strip, police say.

Abdulahi Hasan Sharif is the man accused in the attacks, multiple sources tell CBC News.

The chase ended after a white U-Haul van the man was driving struck four pedestrians and flipped on its side. Cst. Mike Chernyk was the officer injured in the violent altercation, sources tell CBC News.

Edmonton police Chief Rod Knecht confirmed that a black ISIS flag was seized from a car where the police officer was attacked. The officer was not critically injured. The condition of the four pedestrians is not known.

Another stabbing jihadist yelled "allahu ackbar" as he stabbed two female students to death in Marseille, France.

Two women were stabbed to death and their assailant shot dead by a soldier in the southern French port city of Marseille on Sunday in what officials described as a “likely terrorist act”.

Police sources said the suspect had shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is greatest) in Arabic as he attacked the women, aged 17 and 20, at Marseille’s main railway station.

Two police sources said one had her throat slit while the other was stabbed in the chest and stomach.

Brave warriors of Islam, huh?

I mention this for context. I don't know if it has any bearing on ISIS' claims with regard to the Vegas psychopath.

I could see a case being made that if ISIS had two "victories" this weekend in Western countries, it does not need to lie about a third.

I could also make the argument that their "victories" were overshadowed by the victory of a non-Muslim man, and felt that they should lie about this psychopath's membership in their murder club, or else their actual "victories" be forgotten about in favor of bigger news.

In other news:

The killer's father was a bank robber who was diagnosed as a "psychopath."

The father used guns in his bank robberies (of course), which -- just speculating here -- may explain how the shooter got his (seemingly) automatic weapons.

Maybe the father had a cache of heavy weapons which were never discovered. Maybe the son, the Vegas shooter, always knew where they were stashed.

Another weird thing: the killer's brother says he was a multi-millionaire real estate investor.

If that's true, and he had lots of money -- well, that could explain the weapons, too. There's no law tall enough that a huge wave of money can't overtop it.
