Two Soldiers Stabbed in Brussels By Somalian Shouting "Long Live the Confederacy!"
Just messing with you. He shouted Allahu Akbar.
Via RTBF.be, my translation:
Two soldiers stabbed in central Brussels; Attacker neutralized
A Somalian, of about 30 years old, was neutralized around 10:20 pm after having attacked two soldiers with a knife at Boulevard Emile Jacqmain, in the center of Brussels. The individual reportedly cried "Allah Akbar" at the moment of perpetrating his attack.
The attacker was reportedly not dead following the return fire of the soldiers and was reportedly transported to the hospital, in danger of dying. No information at the moment concerning his identity but he was reportedly not known to the authorities.
As for the soldiers, they had been lightly wounded to the hand and face. They also were take to the hospital to be treated.
Translation note: French newspapers use the conditional mood as way to shorthand "reportedly, by other parties, which we haven't confirmed ourselves." Kind of a might be/could be/would be verb conjugation. It's a way to hedge what you're reporting, to report it without actually stating it conclusively.
This article is chock full of conditional verbs (aurait, serait) with reference to the most important facts (the Allahu Akbar cry, that he's not dead, that he's in danger of death), so skepticism is warranted.
