Trump Tweets Repudiation of Obama's Very Late Transition to Let Transgenders in the Armed Forces

Someone in the Trump White House bragged (at least, so a journ0lismist claims) about the political impact of the transition:

Quote from a Trump administration official: "This forces Democrats in Rust Belt states like Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin, to take complete ownership of this issue. How will the blue collar voters in these states respond when senators up for re-election in 2018 like Debbie Stabenow are forced to make their opposition to this a key plank of their campaigns?"

I don't understand why you'd publicly declare that a policy had been chosen on the merits, and then also -- quite publicly -- leak it that the policy was chosen mostly on the political advantage of it.

You would have this political advantage without telling people about the political advantage. In fact, you'd have more political advantage. Because now Democrats can deflect the very "ownership" spoken of by saying, "This is just a political ploy by the White House, as a White House staffer admitted..."

Seems to be someone who wants to tell us all how clever he is.

Pro-Tip: Clever people don't have to tell people how clever they are. In fact, clever people often try to make themselves seem not very clever at all.
