Tough week, angry and scary. Let's keep this thread positive and just interesting. Just because the entire left and half the right and deranged by Trump, that doesn't mean the rest of us must succumb to their mass lunacy. There are still interesting and good things out there.
So I have two new hobbies, which I've merged. I've been taking baths with magnesium salts, because I'm always sore. But you're supposed to be in the bath for 20 minutes, which is much longer than you could imagine when you're just sitting in a tub.
Anyway, I recently got the great idea to combine the new bath thing with my obsession with the absolutely hilarious Mr. Sunday Movies podcasts (and videos). Listening to a 1 hour 20 minute podcast takes too much time. Taking a bath takes too much time.
However -- see if you can follow this -- if you put the podcast on while you're taking your boring ass epsom salt bath, then you're using the same time twice.
Ingenious, no?
I gotta give it to these guys: First, they've displaced Red Letter Media as the funniest listen on the internet. Me, personally? Sure the Nerd Crew is great, but, me personally, these two guys are just consistently funnier.
And not grouchy all the time.
The other thing I've learned is this: I'm not doing a podcast ever again. Having now heard what someone with talent for this sort of thing sounds like, I gotta say, I'm never gonna manage that, and never gonna bother trying.
By the way, if you watch their movie reviews, they used to employ a system (which makes sense, given the Internet's preference for hype and stridency) in which the only two possible ratings were Best Movie Ever and Worst Movie Ever. (Best Movie Ever actually just means "worth a watch," whereas Worst Movie Ever means "not worth a watch.")
But that's the only two ratings permitted: Best Movie Ever! or Worst Movie Evere!
A good entry point (besides the vids I've already linked) is this "Caravan of Garbage" retelling of the strangest Luke Cage story ever, in which--
-- stop reading if you don't want spoilers --
Luke Cage goes after Doctor Doom over an unpaid bill for $200.
Yeahp, that's right. And that's not exaggerated. That's the plot.
Another funny series of videos is where they play terrible video games. They're themselves pretty awful at these games, which they play without any prior practice, but the games themselves are really bad. And that's kind of funny.
I've previously mentioned their animated telling of the unfilmed Batman v. Superman script of 2002, which seems terrible. The animated retelling of the unfilmed Star Wars sequel "Splinter of the Mind's Eye" is also terrible, and funny.
