Spokesman: "Sen. Sasse will not be attending the convention and will instead take his kids to watch some dumpster fires across the state, all of which enjoy more popularity than the current front-runners."

The reason why Christie was asked to fill out the 100 plus pages of disclosure documents? "They've been vetting him (because) it would be embarrassing not to be vetted," said the source.

Quote of the Day IV
The fact is, women are more easily rattled by nastiness than men. That's a stereotype, but it's also true - in the landmark Pew study on online harassment, women were more than twice as likely as men to say they were "very upset" by online harassment. That's why, despite the fact that men are more likely to face abuse online, it's mostly women you hear complaining about it in the pages of The Guardian and on Buzzfeed.

The Brexit Vote: Italy Hardest Hit?
Italy seems to be the next economic domino to fall and unlike Greece it's the third largest economy in the EU. So there's not going to be an easy way to sweep this under the bureaucratic rug. And Italy is prepared to defy Brussels and go its own way:
Matteo Renzi, the Italian prime minister, is determined to intervene with public funds if necessary despite warnings from Brussels and Berlin over the need to respect rules that make creditors rather than taxpayers fund bank rescues, according to several officials and bankers familiar with their plans.
The threat has raised alarm among Europe's regulators, who fear such a brazen intervention would devastate the credibility of the union's newly implemented banking rule book during its first real test.
Meanwhile Hungary is planning to hold a referendum on whether to obey the EU's refugee quotas or not.
The Swiss Take Being Swiss Seriously
USA Today reports that Muslim students refused to take mandatory swimming lessons at a Swiss school because they would be using the pool with the opposite sex. The girl and their families understood that the class was part of the federal curriculum and that refusal would result in disciplinary actions. Again, they refused, so authorities laid down the law.
Finding that the girls had applied for Swiss citizenship, authorities immediately denied their applications, citing the students' refusal to comply with school curricula like all the other children of various races, backgrounds, and religions. Their refusal to assimilate to and respect the very culture they wanted to take them in and give them the privilege of citizenship was proof enough that they weren't there to better Swiss society but to force its citizens to adopt their foreign beliefs.

Despite knowing nothing about the movie or script the mere fact that it involved Asian culture and starred a white man made it #problematic for activists.
But the film's marketing coordinator, Daniel Kwan, told the newspaper at the time that he met with protesters from both groups, and while he wouldn't share the film's script with them, they still found a copy but failed to present him with "any specifics of what they wanted changed." In response, one spokesperson cited the "overall impression of the movie" as the problem, and how Kurt Russell's Jack Burton "still comes off as the hero at the end," despite Kwan's and the studio's insistence that he's only a "hero" by dumb luck. Dennis Dun's Wang Chi and Victor Wong's Egg Shen are the real heroes of the movie - even if Egg says otherwise is the opening scene - and actor Peter Kwong, who played Rain, told the Times that it was "unfair" and "misleading" to call Dun's character Jack's "yes man."
Thirty years later, Kwong remains steadfast in his belief that the outrage was much ado about nothing. "They didn't read the script, they didn't consider anything, they didn't look at anything," he tells us. "It was just subject matter - Chinatown, gangs - 'Let's go get them.'
