Support for Border Wall Plunges to 38% »

Is There Any White Knight That Can Emerge From the Shadows at the Convention?
Imagine this plausible scenario:
Trump does not get to 1,237, and has become even more unacceptable to the party as a whole than he is now.
Trump carpet bombs Ted Cruz and makes him even weaker in the general election than he is now.
Kasich continues being Kasich.
Assuming the convention is contested and Cruz has been too damaged to be a strong candidate (a plausible thing because you know Trump's not going down alone), and assuming the party rewrites the rules (as you know it would, in this situation) to permit delegates to choose virtually anyone--
Can anyone think of anybody who would 1, be broadly acceptable to the party regulars, and 2, look good in a general election, that can suddenly emerge from the wreckage?
And no, not Paul "Professor Open Borders" Ryan. F*** that guy especially.
And No... Not other people who have already been rejected soundly by voters, like Rubio and Jeb.
Boy the Establishment just never gives up, huh?
