So then, FoxNews had to fire back, because of course they did.
Let me point this out: For all this talk about Trump not being strong enough to stand up to criticism, it sure seems the Foxies don't think Megyn Kelly can stand up to some minor, none-too-withering criticism either.
I'm a fan of Kelly's -- one of the few shows I watch on Fox (the others, The Five and Red Eye) -- but Fox's (and the entire conservative media echo chamber's) constant white-knighting on behalf of the damsel (not so much) in distress makes her look not as tough as usually sold.
Anyway, they shot out this snarky, "wise-guy" (in Trump's words) press release:
We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president — a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings.
So in other words, a representative and spokesman for Fox goes out and makes the exact case against Trump that all the Rubio supporters and Establishment people are making against him, that he's thin-skinned and if he can't stand up to Megyn Kelly, how can he stand up to world dictators?
Now, if you don't like Trump, you might very well agree with that sentiment.
But, dig this: A media organization is really not supposed to act as a house organ for a particular faction of a political party.
Whether you agree with it or not, a media organization is supposed to have no particular opinion on the sentiment.
Eh, let me parrot back the establishment critics' favorite anti-Trump charge back to them.
They've taken it as a mantra, in attacking Trump's supporters, "You hate it when Obama does it, but you love it from Trump."
Well to them I'd say:
You hate it when MSNBC does it, but you love it from Fox.
As long as Fox is going after the candidate you want to knock out, so that millions more people can see Marco Rubio appear overpolished and underwhelming at a debate.
By the way: I think this is a very risky move on Trump's part. He's letting these guys have free shots at him all night long.
It's also a risky move for Fox. Fox may think it's King Shit of F*** Mountain, but a lot of us have been pretty down on Fox for a long, long time.
Every fighter looks invincible until he gets knocked the f*** out.
Personally, with them playing games and not having the front-runner in the debate, I'll be hard pressed to gin up the interest to watch another one of these things.
