"We have no dignity anymore"

The quote above is from a video by Spencer Pratt (included below) about the Lindsay Clancy case. Which may be leading to some similar cases:

"IS THIS THE NEW ME TOO MOVEMENT?" "An Illinois mother allegedly hanged her 2-year-old son that she described as the 'anti-Christ' - - hours after discussing the Lindsay Clancy case with friends. . . '

But today, since we are in the Labor Day Weekend, perhaps we can touch upon some othe issues related to dignity - some references to communism and other forms of totalitarianism and the dignity of our educational systems.

But back to murders related to mental health. Matt Vespa wrote that some of the JURORS wore pink in apparent solidarity with the defendant.

The Spencer Pratt video mentioned pre-dated the mistrial. It's not just this case:

Senate Democrat nominee James Talarico appears ready to bring a touch of Trotsky to Texas. In a video from a climate forum, Talarico is shown declaring capitalism an “oppressive system” linked with white supremacy and that it must be “dismantled” to achieve a better world. It is reminiscent of Leon Trotsky, who denounced the “fundamental evil of the capitalist system” and called on citizens to free themselves from its oppression. The Democratic Socialists of America and radical sites have long called “to dismantle the capitalist state.”

History illuminates the present. I've been reading Stephen Kotkin's widely and justly praised multivolume biography of Joseph Stalin and have encountered many passages that illuminate the present.

I learned, for example, that Stalin met the exiled Vladimir Lenin more than a decade before the October 1917 revolution, and that by the early 1920s until his death in 1924, Lenin was in failing health, confined to an estate with "a staff, including the worker-cook Spiridon Putin," Russian President Vladimir Putin's grandfather.

That provides an interesting context for Vladimir Putin's 2005 speech in which he said that "the collapse of the Soviet Union was the biggest geopolitical catastrophe of the century."
