Stupid, Lunatic Children Are Now Performing Useful Function of Telling Parents Which Schools They Should Absolutely Boycott
Now at Amherst, a perennial hotbed of student stupidity which has mistakenly confused academic mediocrity for some kind of insight of the downtrodden.
Being intellectually dull and emotionally florid does not make one part of an oppressed group, Amherst dummies.
Here are some of their stupid demands:
Students protesting at Amherst College have issued a list of demands to administrators that includes excusing students from class for sit-ins and reprimanding those who put up posters touting free speech....
"We demand that Amherst become a leader in the fight to promote a better social climate towards individuals who have been systematically oppressed," their statement reads. "Furthermore, we demand the College acknowledge its ethical and moral responsibilities as an institution and community of our world.”
They ask that the school’s President Biddy Martin issue an apology for the college's "institutional legacy of white supremacy, colonialism, anti-black racism, anti-Latinx racism, anti-Native American racism, anti-Native/ indigenous racism, anti-Asian racism, anti-Middle Eastern racism, heterosexism, cis-sexism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, ableism, mental health stigma, and classism."
Furthermore, the students stipulate they should be excused from coursework and classes to participate in protests and sit-ins; and that the school should email alumni about the recent events--with a warning that racist or critical responses will not be tolerated.
The Daily Beast then claims, uproariously, that Amherst is known as one of the nation's "top" liberal arts colleges.
Um, by whom? Amherst graduates? Even they can't be that dumb. It's a party-and-protest dumping ground for the lesser intellects of New England. (Update: MWR says I may be confusing U Amherst with U Mass at Amherst. Probably. But then, I've never heard, not once in my life, "We have our girl in the best private school in the state. We're hoping she can get into Amherst.")
They also want signs posted in support of free speech to be subject to disciplinary action:
Among the pleas for "safe spaces" is a request that college president Biddy Martin issue a statement that Amherst does "not tolerate the actions of student(s) who posted the 'All Lives Matter' posters, and the 'Free Speech' posters."
JeffB. calls a stupid, pig-ignorant fascist a stupid, pig-ignorant fascist:
We're not quite here yet, but as Charles Cooke said:
I'll say it again: In my view, imprisoning people for holding unpopular views is sufficient cause for revolution.
Not prison per se yet -- just exclusion from employment until a satisfactory stay at a mandatory reeducation camp.
Update: What A Stupid Time to Be Alive.
