Left Wigging Out About Donald Trump's Saturday Night Live Appearance

A yuge number of leftist groups, many of which the Hispanic Auxiliaries of International Marxism, are demanding that Saturday Night Live cancel the Trump hosting gig. Which is, by the way, this Saturday night.

"There's mounting evidence that Donald Trump's racist demagoguery is resulting in real-world violence and physical and verbal intimidation," Mushed Zaheed, deputy political director of Credo Action, one of the participating groups, said in a statement...

"It is shameful for 'SNL' and NBC to think that racism can be repackaged as comedy," said Juan Escalante, digital campaigns manager for America's Voice, another group participating in the coalition.

Other participating groups included the National Hispanic Media Coalition, MoveOn.org and National Council of La Raza.

La Raza -- denouncing any show of Razism (by anglos).

And there is of course no evidence, let alone so much that it is forced to mount itself, that Trump's candidacy is causing "real world violence."

AllahPundit talked about this yesterday. Trump's appearance will tend to humanize him, and the left won't have that:

That's why, I think, Latino groups are unusually exercised about this appearance. They want people to see Trump as a menacing racial demagogue. This little benediction from SNL, that the guy's sufficiently mainstream to host their not-very-conservative show, makes that harder.

Sonny Bunch flagged this left-wing writer from the generally left-wing AV Club essentially confessing this.

What's most baffling to some is that SNL--routinely called out for its liberal comic biases--seems to be endorsing Trump. Sure, he hosted once before back in 2004, but he was then most notable as the catchphrase-spewing host of NBC's reality show The Apprentice, and the joshing he took was of the type the show is most comfortable wit... Now, however, SNL and Michaels are welcoming a bewilderingly viable presidential candidate to NBC's airwaves for 90 minutes, a guy who's made the demonization of certain, non-white ethnic groups a cornerstone of his appeal. As angry as some people are, they're also confused. They shouldn't be. SNL's reputation as a radical television program has always rested more on its irreverence toward the medium than on its political satire.

By the way, the rest of the article is the "Saturday Night Dead" sort of "the hell with this terrible show" sort of piece that gets written about SNL a lot. It gets mentioned a lot lately, because the show really is terrible, but the left avoids saying so... until now.

But what's interesting to me is the claim that SNL "seems to be endorsing Trump." That is of course absurd; the writer himself notes the show is left-leaning.

No, what the show is actually being accused of, and what is unforgivable to the left, is of presenting Trump as socially acceptable and human. Cultural Power is Political Power, and the left employs most of its cultural power delegitimizing, demonizing, and ultimately dehumanizing the targets of its wrath, in order to trigger the herd-animal parts of the human brain and make people wish to socially exclude someone -- for fear of being the next to be socially excluded if they don't.

That's always the way the game has worked, from herds of wildebeests on the Serengeti to Mean Girl cliques in Anytown USA to Twitter hate-mobs. You marginalize, denigrate, and dehumanize someone so that all people know that to even nod hello to this Untouchable is a social breach, and the penalty for such a vile social breach just might be your own addition to the List of the Untouchable.

This is why people go along with this -- they're scared to death of being the next to be ostracized.

What the left is appalled by is that they have done such strenuous work dehumanizing Trump (and all conservatives, and especially now all border-hawk conservatives), and they have even more Mean Girl work planned for the future, but SNL is ruining all that by telling the kid they've worked so hard to ostracize that he can sit at the Cool Kids' Table for this lunch period.

This isn't about any political endorsement -- this is about mere social acceptance, and the toxic, religious-zealot cult left will not abide by anyone they deem kuffar, najis. The problem isn't a political endorsement; it's more of a cultural permissiveness, which the puritanical sees as anathema.

Here SNL's promotion reel for the show. Trump calls Ben Carson a "complete loser," and NBC is now saying this reel was released "accidentally." The official reel released by NBC omits the part about Carson and has some different, lame jokes.
