Breitbart, meanwhile, is playing up comments that seem to indicate that that Ryan isn't very interested in defending America's physical borders, as America is just an idea.

"America is more than just a country," Ryan said. "It's more than Chicago, or Wisconsin. It’s more than our borders. America is an idea. It's a very precious idea."

This statement is significant because while a country has borders, "ideas" do not.

What happens when more and more people move into the physical America who do not share the idea of America -- free-market oriented, liberal as far the rights of women and religious freedom and speech, etc.?

They never answer this question. They just sort of assume that "The Spirit of America" is contagious. This despite the fact that the current American population is developing a higher and higher herd immunity to the "Spirit of America" contagion.

Well, he's got Harry Reid's vote.

Meanwhile, Democrats have filibustered a bill that would have defunded sanctuary cities. Obama said he would veto it if it somehow made it out of the Senate.
