College News: It's Horrible
Middlebury College insisted on a more-likely-than-not standard in disciplining a student, but when the student sought a federal injunction against their carrying out their punishment, Middlebury College itself insisted on a much tougher "substantial likelihood of success" standard for the student.
You may be surprised to know this, but a law called FERPA states that as soon as a child turns 18, all of his education records are his alone -- and the parents have no right to them.
This comes up because parents were just recently shocked to discover their daughter had not graduated college, as she claimed, and merely skipped the graduation -- in fact, she did not attend classes for two years.
Wesleyan College SJWs call for the defunding of the school newspaper, for the outrage of criticizing the Black Lives Matter movement.
This is college! This is not the place for a vigorous exchange of sometimes-controversial ideas!
Some people claim that MOOCs (Massive online classrooms) have helped them with career advancement and pay raises, etc.
I am hugely interested in MOOCs but I can never make heads or tails of them. I don't know how to find them, I don't know which ones are good (are they rated?).
This seems like a potential big deal, but they need some kind of structuring force to make it all cohere -- as Amazon did for online transactions.
In the meanwhile, if anyone knows how to find the MOOCs and etc. please let me know!
