Hillary Clinton Covers Up Yesterday's Cavalcade of Lies With, Get This, More Lies

Charles Cooke parses Hillary's parsings:

As CNN has reported, at least 305 of the e-mails that Hillary handed over contained classified information within -- classified information that is subject to strict federal law. How does she account for that? She doesn’t, really. "Whether it was a personal account or a government account," she argued, "I did not send classified material and I did not receive any material that was marked or designated 'classified,' which is the way you know whether something is.”

You will presumably have noticed the peculiarly asymmetrical phrasing of Clinton's answer: "I did not send classified material and I did not receive any material that was marked or designated 'classified.'" That's deliberate. In order to have any chance at avoiding liability under 18 USC 1924, Clinton needs not only to have refrained from actively sending or copying e-mails that contained classified information, but also to have been blissfully unaware that she had been receiving them in the first instance...

Far from representing a confident dismissal of the accusations, Clinton's careful parsing is a sign that she’s holding on to a fig leaf.

The self-imputed Only Honest Man in DC, Ron Fournier, counted Hillary's lies in yesterday's press conference and came up with six.

Hillary Super-Fan Mika Brezinzsky read introduced the Hillary press-conference in a funereal tone:

But Team Hillary has a way to distract you from yesterday old-news lies. And that, of course, is the brand-new lies.

One Clinton aide is claiming she's just a confused old lady who doesn't understand what the ell is going on around her:

Hillary Clinton's communications director says there is no complex explanation for why the Democratic presidential candidate used a private email server at the State Department.

"She didn't really -- that’s the thing, she didn't really think it through," she added of Clinton. "She has said, had she -- she would have done it differently."

...

Palmieri also refused comment Wednesday over whether Clinton's personal device had gotten wiped clean before reaching Justice Department investigators last week.

There's no story at all here, and this is all made up nonsense about routine matters, and also, by the way, I refuse comment on very simple, straightforward questions about when Hillary wiped the hard drive.

Other aides continue with the Confused Old Lady defenses. JeffB. calls bullshit:

As I've noted before, the Clinton's defenses always come down, ultimately, to intent. Oh, they did all the illegal things you say; you just can't prove they intended to do them to thwart the law. Maybe they did these evidence-destroying things for other reasons, like wanting to keep their yoga routines secret for later publication in a horrifying book.

The IG's letter, remember, stated these documents had their Top Secret markings when they originated. If Hillary's people stripped them off -- well, that's another crime.

But I guess you'll have to prove their intent to strip them off -- they will say maybe it was all an incredible series of oopsies.

Hill's people are also sticking to their claim that the docs subsequently became classified -- which seems disputed by the IG letter above.

A passive, unwitting recipient for president -- I get a real New Frontier feeling from that slogan.
