Yoga Routines [Ace]: Late in the podcast, I asked everyone to check out a picture I'd RT'd. Below is that picture.

Update: Why the Bradley Cooper/Jennifer Lawrence movie "Serena" went straight to video.

You know, only a certain type of movie gets played in theaters now. We are in the midst of a genuine revolution in people's habits. In five years, only Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar movies will be in the theaters; all other movies will be straight-to-PPV.

Adults no longer go to the theater. So only movies aimed at teenagers have any hope of success.

So that part of it is no knock on the Talented Mr. Cooper.

But, Cooper and Lawrence have a previous track record and are both A-list stars that they still should get a theatrical exhibition, even if their movie is obviously not a CGI piece of shit, but a more adult drama. Even though adult movies are dying in theaters, they're not dead yet (like I said, another five years for the process to be complete), and they would have bucked this trend for the moment, if the movie was good.

But I hear it's not.

At the moment, only marginal movies get released PPV; in a year, it will be mid-list movies that are okay; in two years, all decent movies aimed at non-teenager audiences; in five year, all movies except Marvel movies and Star Wars and Pixar.

So we're in that transitional period.
