Orin hosta: Of Course The GOP Will Keep The ObamaCare Subsidies Flowing If The Supreme Court Rules In Our Favor.
I know this looks bad, but I swear I'm not trying to cause mass strokes across the country. I mean it would be cool if I could but it would hurt the traffic numbers.
That said, I'm just the messenger, so go to your calm place and read on.
hosta declares the GOP needs “to help the people who will be hurt by losing their subsidies because of Obamacare’s broken promises. That means providing a reasonable and responsible transition for those who may lose their subsidies while Congress works to repeal and replace Obamacare once and for all.” He says that in the coming days, he will release details on “a short-term solution for those Americans that may be affected by the decision in King. That solution will address immediate concerns and set the stage for a more permanent fix in the future.”
From that, it certainly sounds like the GOP would act to restore the subsidy/tax credit promised by Obamacare, at least for this year.
"Nothing is so permanent as a temporary government program."- Milton Friedman.
Keep in mind that hosta isn't some loud-mouthed, TEA party back-bencher. He's chair of the Senate Finance Committee. You know, the panel that's responsible for writing the tax subsidy part of ObamaCare.
I doubt it will come to this because I don't think there's a prayer in hell of the Supreme Court siding with the anti-subsidy side. Roberts has already shown he's willing to rewrite the law to save it there's no reason to believe he won't again.
Still, can you imagine that in the wake of the Supreme Court handing conservatives the biggest win in a very long time against the law they hate the most the first thing the GOP does is...save the Democrats?
Of course you can.
PSA- This is an important reminder that you can't use up all your anti-GOP anger on things like the amnesty cave. The GOP will always find another and worse way to screw you over. You need to have something in the tank for the next outrage. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
Added: hosta is giving that speech at the Heritage Foundation's symposium on why the tax credits are illegal. Why in the world is he talking down a conservative win at a forum like that? For God's sake, if only the GOP would spend a fraction of the effort they exert in trying to manage and fool conservatives on actually trying to defeat Democrats!
Honestly, who do these guys think the real bad guys are here?
Yes, that's a rhetorical question.
