So.....last week Ready At Dawn went in full down sperg mode in obviously a clear notion that they shouldn't be in front of PR. In a span of two interviews, they very much got foot in mouth disease (#1 here and #2 here). They ran the gamut of calling The Order a $100 steak compared to other games which are "all you can eat buffet steaks". They even said their game is a better value compared to the yearly Call of Duty games while totally not mentioning that multiplayer is the main course of Call of Duty games. Also, playing the game normally, like a regular person is to be speed running through the game as you haven't properly drank in the atmosphere or explored the cover based corridor shooter. Also, no one should say "Haterade" like ever.
• With it being a year removed from Dark Souls 2 and it's gameplay isn't conducive for yearly releases, I honestly can't say I want another Souls style game right now but Bloodborne is looking really good.
• In non-shocking news, Tim Schafer came to the defense of Peter Molyneux (about the 1:52 mark).
• In point and laugh mode at the messenger: Dean Hall, the guy behind DayZ, said this on Twitter
If we want Early Access & Kickstarter to succeed as a method of funding games we NEED accountability. Media and gamers are huge part in this
• So Joe Madureira (comic book dude and ex-owner of Vigil) announced his new game studio, Airship Syndicate and totally didn't hint at a Battle Chasers game. Considering it's JoeMad, this game should look cool in 10 years.
Homeworld Remastered (PC) - After dropping $1.2m for the IP, you would have hoped that Gearbox would actually do this seminal IP justice and they appear to have done so with this actual remaster with updated art and tweaked music. And I really like that they tackled both games for the package instead of breaking them up. Don't know what to say about this series that hasn't been said before, it was way ahead of it's time with a 3D plane based RTS that nailed almost everything, UI and unevenness of game difficulty being the only odd spots. Hopefully with this, more people will finally check out the sadly underselling second game as I personally found it better than the first. I really haven't bought collector's editions since Working Designs died but I really wish I pre-ordered this one.
Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late (PS3) - We never got an official US release of any of the Melty Blood games but this year we're getting two games from French Bread. the upcoming ASCII ip laden Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax sometime in the fall and this game which an updated version of the original Under Night In-Birth fighter from a few years ago. With French Bread, expect a great shoto fighter with some wrinkles while filled to the brim with outstanding art a general sense of fun. French Bread is what ArcSys wishes it was. That being said, it's still an animu fighter and with it comes with the fact that it will thrive till EVO and then the community will kinda disappear. Really hope it sells well for them and a new Melty Blood with better netcode. Wish I still had my PS3 to play this ;_;
Dragon Ball Xenoverse (PC, PS4, PS3, XBO, 360) - Another year, another Dragonball game. I'm personally not a fan of DBZ games from Dimps, they're good for anime games (not a high bar) but not that good without the IP. The fighting is stilted and buttonmashy. That being said, they've been doing a pretty good job with the IP as it's feels and looks like an episode of DBZ.
Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart (Vita) - Wake me up when Compa gets her own standalone game
