Mad Max "Fury Road" Trailer Looks Kinda Cool, But Man, They Just Can't Keep Off the CGI Catnip Can They?
What everyone remembers about the Mad Max trilogy, and especially the game-changing Road Warrior *, was the stunts. The practical effects.
I think Roger Ebert commented that the stunts were so awesome he was pretty sure someone must have been killed filming the movie, but no one was.
I'm not going to piss on this trailer, as there do seem to be some actual stunts and stuff.
I guess a sandstorm could sweep up vehicles and cause them to explode in mid-air. Maybe?
Whatever.
And below that, a local police department tries to change people's perceptions of traffic stops by being all nice and stuff.
* Actually The Road Warrior did not change any games at all. I never saw a movie that really attempted to do what the Road Warrior did -- not even the sequel, Thunderdome.
It's a remarkable thing, actually: An enormously popular film that no one really tried to imitate, because, I guess, they were afraid to do so.
Although I did notice that the Riddick movie ripped off the whole "they attacked him, they left him for dead, then they shot his dog" Plot Point.
