Imagine That! Carl DeMaio's Harassment Accuser Gave Docs to Opponent Peters [Y-not]

This is my shocked face.

The man who accused Carl DeMaio of sexual harassment is the same person who provided confidential campaign documents to DeMaio's opponent Scott Peters, according to newly unsealed court documents.

The newly unsealed search warrant affidavits, obtained by NBC 7 Investigates, show the Peters campaign held on to the controversial documents for four days before alerting the authorities.

The documents in question were DeMaio's media plan.

The race for California's 52nd Congressional seat was very hotly contested. Peters (the Democrat) appears to have declared victory, although I am not sure if the results are considered official. DeMaio had been ahead on election day eve, but more vote counting occurred this week.

In any event, the alleged harassment charge sure seems like a dirty trick, doesn't it?

Rep. Scott Peters continued to increase his lead over challenger Carl DeMaio Saturday after further counting in the race for the 52nd Congressional District.

According to data released by the San Diego County Registrar of Voters Office on Saturday, Peters has 94,301 votes and DeMaio has 89,530 votes -- giving Peters a lead of 4,771 votes.

Although the Associated Press called the race for Peters, neither candidate has declared victory. Results from Friday gave Peters a 4,500 vote edge over DeMaio, 51 percent to 49 percent.

Workers have been counting the remaining 36,000 mail ballots and some 10,000 provisional ballots Saturday and will continue counting through the weekend.
